My wonderfull weekend of the dunes
#1
My weekend really started out on Thursday night. I finished putting my bike together, cam cover, cut fenders, cleaned, yada yada..... But never started it up before I left for LA Dunes.
I got there at the same time as Yamaha4life and about 45 minutes before RepTar686. We set up a tent sat around a second and then hit the dunes. It was great my bike started right up, ran good, everything was going good. Got on the sand and I am still really impressed with the power. I got to race y4life, with his Craycraft motor and 2" swingarm. Yeah he beat me but not as bad as I thought. Out of the hole he is wicked! I never did get to race RT686.
So back to camp and we all sat around and shot the breeze. Had a good time. This was the first time for any of us to meet. Everybody was really cool, so no suprises there.
Sat morning we wake up, sit around, you know the usual. Then Ernie drives up. He comes over we.........on to the riding. I go to start my bike, perfect! Ernie and I rode around, raced a couple bikes, I did some sand blasting(sorry Ernie). Anyway lots of fun then.
Next trip out I went to sart my bike and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzz one way was gone. We rocked it and finaly got the starter to catch and all was good. We all five rode to the dunes. By this time there were some pretty good drags going on. Ernie, Y4Life, and I all lined up with everybody else. We all took of and all of the sudden KLACK KLACK KLACK!!!!! WTF my two rear tire just FN locked the hell up! YUP my tranny freakin locked up at around 9am. MAD doesn't even begin to start to describe me. I wanted to cuss and throw and kick and stomp and, I think you get the picture So I got to spend the rest of the day sitting at camp. The guys would come back and talk for awhile so it wasn't too bad.
We did get to meet CED(Polaris Sport), Delta Dawg(Raptor), oneBigDSRider(DS), and???seems like I am forgetting somebody. All real nice guys.
So once again I came home from my dune trip early. I hope your weekend was better.

Bummer! Sorry to hear about all your bad luck Ward. I was sitting here reading posts at work wishing I could have made that trip myself.
I remember a post a few monthes ago about who's '01 Raptor tranny is still up and running, I guess I'm one of the fortunate ones, of course, I really haven't ridden my Raptor as much as I would like to. I guess it's just a matter of time! Best of luck to you with the repairs!
The sad thing about the tranny problem is that it makes me want to get rid of my Raptor even though I haven't had any problems with it YET. The only thing that has ever given me trouble was the factory chain was stretched. It de-railed on my very first ride, fortunately for me it was covered under warranty.

Ward660R,
That surely sux.
My only advice is to do what I did. Buy yourself a Honda 400ex as a spare. It might not offer the same thrill level but it sure beats sitting by the truck. My Raptor is so bad that it has been nicknamed "OneRide" - you get to ride it once and then time to order more parts. You can pick up a used 400ex cheap. I bought mine off e-bay. Guy bought it for his son who wouldn't ride it. I guess the fact that it didn't come with a remote control turned him off.
This one-way bearing problem is out of control. I was going to order a spare from tjsxpress for around $120 delivered but now I might wait to see if that company who posted about a replacement one comes through. I am going on a big trip to Hatfield McCoy at the end of May for a week so I will definitely have one along with the necessary gaskets and seals. My trailer is like a rolling garage except for the hydralic quad lift. A one-way bearing definitely belongs in the spare parts bin.

Thanks for the sympathy guys.
NotuRaptor2, If they bring it out before the date he was talking about I will probably do that too. BUT I want this thing going ASAP!!! I know I can get all my parts from Craycraft, all in stock I beleive so they are making it very easy for me to do it quickly.
A 400 would be good but the next new bike I get will be for my wife, it has to be an auto.
Disturbed, your right fix it and ride on. I wasn't thinking like that at the time though.
DemonDS, yeah its worth it, I think.!?
Whitebread, count on it!!! I will be running ASAP and as soon as I can afford too.
