Default Did Nyroc's Muff Mod

Just finished the muffler mod Nyroc outlines on his site...stayed with his 6 holes and the diameter he recommended. Anyone else tried this mod and did you notice anything...have to improve the the machines ability to get rid of the exhaust as most of my other mods have been intake oriented: snorkel, 142/145 jetting, uni filter...black spring dont count

anyone with similiar setup give me some insight ... finished tonight so wont be able to take it out until next weekend if the weather doesnt get to cold...bike does alright in the cold...i dont...so i am a little curious on what to expect...

I had to go up one notch on my needles before I really got it running right. You aren't going to get as much power as the other guys, but it won't be too loud to ride it around the neighborhood or hunting.

Nyroc

So did you place one or two of the washers under the needle. Also, you took the packing out of the end piece and then put it back on right? My only problem with the exhaust mod I believe is i left the whole to large (oval shape fairly large)...this is an easy fix though.

Well i had the bike out for a little romping after the exhaust mod...have done the following to it:
- black spring
- 142f/145r jets (no washers yet)
- snorkel
- Nyrocs Exhaust Mod (by the book with 6 of the 3/8 holes)
- Twin Air Filter sitting in the garage...havent put it on yet...had just greased the stock one

I have noticed a nice difference...i cut the end piece out of my exhaust so its a tad bit loud...will probably put it back in...I have to say that based off some of the feedback i was starting to question if I would notice anything...but i did. Pretty easy (if you know how to weld) mod that is dirt cheap with noticable difference...your a good man NYROC...thanks

I have little knock coming from the clutch housing that i have to take into the dealer and ensure everything in their is seated properly and tight...after that I will really put my cost effective mods to the true test. Have to love the V-Twin Kaw.

I just finished the mod with 6 3/8" holes. But I may have went a little different with the spark arrester. I took the cap with the spark arrester still on it and cut through the spark arrester near the inside end. Then I took a regular screw driver and dug the packing out of it. I suppose most people cut the entire spark arrester out of the end of the cap, but I left it in there, without the packing. But I drilled 1/4" holes all the way around the cap between the actual exhaust pipe and the outlet of the spark arrester. So now, looking at the end cap, I have one big hole in the center and lots of 1/4" holes all around it, because there was no sense in opening up the inside of the muffler and not enlarging the exhaust. The reason I did this was because I didn't have a jigsaw to cut the spark arrester out of the cap. But it sounds extremely sweet and as far as power, I can't tell because it's running extremely lean and I haven't rejetted yet. But I was real worried about butchering my brand new muffler, but am now very glad I did it.

Bosox, the knock you hear coming from your clutch is common. There is nothing wrong with it. Ride it for 5 minutes and it will go away. If my memory serves me correctly, the noise is coming from the wear shoes in your driven clutch.

Bosox07, I use a dynojet needle. I have never shimmed the stock needles. I had the kit before anyone talked about shimming the needles. I just told you to shim yours since it will work just as well and cost a lot less.

I remove the inside of the spark arrestor (not just the packing). My tip looks the same as stock from the side, but the hole is now 1.75" or so.

Mastrblastr is right about the knock. Perfectly normal tro have a small know that goes away (shoes) when you rev, or drive, or after it is warmed up. If it ever knocks loud and won't go away, fix shoes and bushing.
