Need Help With Raptor Tranny

I just replaced the 01 gears with 02 and it worked for the first 10 minutes. Then when i let loose some how third gear lost a couple teeth, 2 on the main axle and 1 on the driven axle. Everything worked fine an shifted good when I tested it. What could have caused that to happen? Manufacturing defect, shifting under load, in 2 gears at once? The teeth broke off at the base of the gear, not at the tips. It didn't ruin anything else, i got pictures but no place to post them.

You can send them to me and I will post them. mike@raptortranny.com
Only thing I can think of is an old '01 gear possibly got back in the mix with the new? I would have to look at it to determine though.

I noticed that on all the 02 gears I got the teeth had a small groove cut in the center all the way around the gear - the 01s didnt have this. I think this is a quick way to identifty the 02 parts ? - Correct ?

Warrior- I sent you the pics, I also have some pics of my broken subframe and x-33 axle if anyones interested. The mainshaft, the one that the clutch splines onto, if that had freeplay to move in and out a little bit could that have broken the gears?

I got the pictures, im loading them on a different pc, then I will put them on a page.
I believe the main axle has just a c-hair of play, the play is set by the reverse pinion

Is it possible an old 01 gear found its way back in with the new? it would bind something fierce and would break teeth like that. I cant count the teeth in the picture to figure it out. other than that it looks ok from what I see. Other than the gears look like they were put under ALOT of pressure when this happened unless scoaring like in the pictures can occur in 10 minutes.

Warrior - Thanks for posting the pictures.
If you look at the last pic the gears are assembled in the case and engaged. Is it fully engaged? It only looks halfway in but thats how they all look.
