well I'm sure you read the magazines.the scramble does not seem to excel in any one area but to me seems to be a very good all-around bike.I do a lot of all-around riding.you know trails, hill climbs,MUD thats what I like about it. It rides like a sport bike and goes where the tractors do.it's a little heavy at 550 pounds.and let me tell you you noticed that when it lands on you.as far as things I don't like aboutit the steering stem seems to be a little weak. almost every time I flipped it i seem to ben one($50.00).they supposedly fixed tie rod problem in 2000.will'll see!well let me say this I've had my bike nine months.the tie rod ends are shot($25.00ec)have towarn up three or four c/v boots at 22.00ec one U-joint($60.00 dealer 8.00 at NAPA #338 or SPICER# 5-170X)big rip off otch.I found a boot that fits pretty good but not perfect(NAPA#2499SB)just put it on will let you know how it works out.I am on my second set of front brake pads (OEM severe dutys $32.00)they seem to be O.K.I have gone through two sets of OEM rears they suck ($50.00)I just put on a set of EBC severe duties($30.00)will see how they hold up.Tires OK as soon as you buy it have the reinforcing rings installed on the wheels they seem to bend easy! than again from what I hear from other people is that I ride hard. I don't think so!I have already ruined a set of sprockets and a chain(OEM about$130.00 for all)Sidewinder Staenless gold O-ring set up is about 200.00 supposed to be the best.I don't like the way A-arm is designed.it breaks those little brass bushings really easy.yaa there only $2 bucks but I get tired of putting them in.other than some pretty heavy maintenance (which you're going to get with any bike) I like the bike.It has good power (36hp stock)handels ok but a little top heavy compared to other but it is a 4X4 so be careful on those Steep Hill climbs and off camera trails.these are just some of the gives and takes of an all around bike.I payed 4700 new in 99I hear the 2000's are about 5200.well good luck and enjoy your new ride.

"TRY" sounds to me like you DO ride hard! i have had mine for over a year and have only recently had problems with my starter. i think it is because i thought it was a submarine one day while ridding in a creek. the starter doesn't like too much water in it because it will rust. I also do a lot of different kinds of ridding and like my scrambler very much! it has lots of power!!

I may ride hard! but dont think i dont take of it
avery time i ride it gets washed, checked out,and lubed.i do beleave i ride more then most on an avage of about 10-15 hours a week. I try and get out every weekend and ride.I'm just telling scrambler what he's in for a yaer or two from now.your telling me your tie rod ends arn't getting lose are just plane shot!I have a brand new bike sitting hear with maybe 10 hours on it that i bought for my wife back in july.and the rod ends are starting to get lose on it!!
Now thats just bad planing they had to know this years ago.why did it take them so long to start useing the same type that they use on the in side.
I'm sorry I'll get down off my soap box now.
it just pi@#! me off that they build a good bike and cheap out write at the end like that.
