I read somewhere that Bombardier is dropping the weight of the DS 650 for 2004. Does anyone know how much the new model will weight?

 

reports seem to vary but seems 20-30 pounds.

Dirtwheels said that bombardier was shooting to take off 80lbs. Droping the dry weight from490 to 410lbs.

 

The '04 lost 20 lbs, down to 470, aluminuim a-arms & swingarm, its on their web site.....

 

How much do rappys weigh dry? If they lose the weight by having a new swingarm, a-arms, etc etc.... would the new swingarms and arms be interchangeable with the 00-03 DS's?Would be nice to have a the power of a DS and the ability to whip it around more like the raptor should be the ultimate machine to have in 04.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

 

i think all they did is put new headlight with dual bulbs, aluminum top a-arm, shorter aluminum swingarm and SS braided brake lines

 

Nobody knows the weight, not even Bomb themselves. Their website right now says that the '04 is 470lbs, after all the weight savings. Wow, that's 10 lbs. MORE than the clamied dry weight of a standard DS back in '01!!!!!!!!!!

 

Hey guys, I'm not a ds 650 owner but I just picked up a 2004 comparative guide from my dealer today. It states dimensions: length - 77in. width - 48in. height - 47.5in. weight - 470lbs. it lists advantages over others as: longer and wider for more stability than any other production sport ATV; the front A-arms are extra wide to allow 12in. of travel w/ minimal effect on geometry; new design is 20 lbs. lighter; new aluminum swingarm is light, durable, slightly reduces overall wheel base and rear-end weight for better handling. Hope that helps. Also your dealer should have the 2004 Bombardier comparitive guide for free!
