can somone out there please help steer me in the right direction i have an o2 t.b. and have done the hsp speed kit, and now im looking for more topend, i love the way this quad powers through the trails it is suprizingly torquey and lifts the front wheels on demand and it is a blast to ride, but, i have the smallest quad in the bunch, in the trails i can keep up just fine and sometimes lead the pack, but on open stretches or out in the dunes all i get to do is dodge rocks and sand and smell exhaust all day (banshees' really do stink) anyway what is the next step, in increasing top end, i want to do everything i can stopping just short of lossing reliability on the quad. i was told that i should have the head shaved to increase compression, which i believe will build more rpm's which in turn will increase my top end, i do not however want to lose any of the low end grunt i got now, cant spare any, just looking not to get beaten as bad in the straights, any insights, from anyone that has done this type of mod will be appreciated

Well probably the next best thing would be porting or a bigger carb. Other than the pipe these 2 things make the biggest difference in performance. The porting will make it quicker and add some top end. The carb will also make it quicker but add alot more top end. Both of them together will add tons. My TB with the mods that I have tops out at 67mph.I am using a carb off of a scrammy 400 and BUBBA 297 did my porting. Before these 2 mods my TB did 63mph tops. I would suggest a flatside carb because the 34mm mikuni from the scrammy is a little slugish on the bottom but when it kicks in it will kick you in the a$$. It is very quick and pulls hard all the way to the top. My TB can beat a 400 off the line and pull ahead untill about 50mph and then the scrammy catches it and I can hang right along beside it. It will never be as fast or quick as a banshee but warriors, blasters and 300 ex's are no problem to beat. The best part of it is that the big heavy 250 can hang with the big boys. Get ahold of Bubba and he can set you up with a port job. He does a real good job, takes less than a week, cheaper than other companies, has alot of porting experience and deals with alot of 250 and 400's.

I agree with 2many there. But, the flatslide can a monster to tune sometimes, I know It was with my Scrambler and have heard alot others say the same. It works like a charm though when you finally get it tuned right. If you think you want to go the carb route I have the factory 34 off my Scrambler I would sell if you decided to go with that.PM me if you are interested. Like 2many said it is not as quick off the line, but I thought you may be interested anyway.

thanks for all the help, and yeck ya im interested in the carb. ill pm you for specifics, the bikes i ride with in my normal group, are a scrammie 400 2 stroke, 2 banshees one stock and one wicked go fast time bomb, a grizz 660, and a raptor, the banshee's yeah, i give upthey are always gonna be wicked quick, besides after my last outing i decided i didnt want to run with these guys, caught the stock one in the real rough rocky uphill sect. (where i believe that a banshee really suffers as far as stock suspension) got right up on his tail, it was great i felt finally like a real contender, until he cracked the go button wide open and the chunk rock started flying, lets see, cracked the hsp pipe, busted the head lite (i wish i could figure out a way to fab a guard around that center lite, on my thrid one) put a bruise on my collar bone (no chest protector"stupid, i know")and so on, after that attack on my check book i decided to let those two boys fight it out amongst theirselves, really im after my best friend on his scrammie, we bought the bikes together on the same day and i rode his bike but having never been on a quad before, the power scared the heck out of me and decided to go with the 250, took me about 6months to feel like i ride the bike to its fullest, and now looking for more, the t.b. with stk rear tires tops at 61 now, with the razrs (shorter in height i lose a bit of top end but really cranks up the torque, looking for more top end. you all think the carb is the next step or should i port and polish the head???? how much in the ballpark am i gonna spend to get the head job done????
