Has anyone tried the trick where you get the Polaris to use the front wheels for braking also???

Just wondering fellows is anyone else using the trick where you back up hold the over ride button then shift it into forward while you hold the button. I was out playing today in the rain and was using this method coming down some real steep slippery stuff and it works very well keeps the back wheels from braking traction.

I'll have to try it! Nothing like sliding down wet shale with a load on! How about a switch to throw when going down steep grades with EBS engaged to keep the front locked? Did you keep the button depressed the whole time to keep it engaged?

Yes put it in reverse then hold your over ride button put it into 4 low or high all the time holding the button as you descend down the hill.
This will lock all 4 wheels into 4 wheel ebs instead of just 2. Try this same thing going down the same place without doing this and see if you can tell the difference...believe me there is a difference...

I tried it this weekend. It works just like you said it would. Great tip! I also released the override after starting forward, and the hubs stayed engaged. Now if I can just remember to push that button when I need 4x4 in reverse. hehe

Thanks,
Brian

I also tried it last weekend, on the Sportsman. It's a '99 with EBS. I got up on top of a tall rocky hill, which I just barely made it up by the way. The low range is nice, but takes away too much speed for climbing!

Anway, I tried the tip atving mentioned, holding the button. It worked about 3/4 way down the hill and then it went to 2wd. I am used to riding my Scrambler, and that big Sportsman can be scary on some of the hills, it's just too big... :-) It made it though. I haven't tried it on the Scrambler yet.

did you hold your button in as you came down if not that is what might have caused it I noticed Dusty said he didn't but I do hold mine and it hasn't come out yet...

Have any of the "mechanically advanced" readers, particularly those with Polaris EBS system knowledge, given this topic some serious thought? Is there ANY possibility that this could be causing mechanical damage to the EBS system? I am anxious to try this, but would hate to be the one that finds out that the system was not built to be used in this way.

Yeah thanks Atving for getting our machines into 4 wheel ebs not one thank you hehehe...on the issue of causing damage well us with the warrantys will let you know...I really don't see how though it could hurt if you don't have a warranty kinda hang in there and we will let you know, but nothing tearing up so far over 300 miles on it. Since I have kinda got used to the auto tranny with the EBS I really don't use this very much unless it is something like a wet shaley place that is really dangerous or a real long long long steep incline I am going down...
