Default when should you run racing fuel???

i have a 95 banshee, i just recently bought it and kind of new with the shees. i ran racing fuel through it until i went to get more and they were out!! so i just put 93 octane in it. and as soon as it hit the carbs my shee ran like crap. so i didn't ride it any i just parked it. it has been jetted with toomey pipes. it could have more mods but im not sure. my question is----- under what conditions should you run racing fuel as far as the mods go. im tryin to learn all i can!!!!

thanks

What kind of racing fuel do you use?...(octane rating) if its 110 or lower you might as well just run it, its good for it....

im not sure what my compression is and the racing fuel is 114 octane. i am just asking becasue the racing fuel is so expensive and if it doesn't improve my performance that much, i would jsut as soon run 93 octane

Get a compression guage, and check it. If you are under about 160, pump gas should be fine. This is a general rule of thumb, but each engine is slightly different so yours may need the extra octane.

If you dont detonate with pump gas, there is no need for race fuel in general. That is what it is for, increased compression over a certain point would require the use of race gas.

I am assuming you bought it used, check with the previous owner to see what if any work was done and what compression he was running.
