HELP,DS in very,very wet conditions
#1
I just took the ds out trail riding after it rained for 3 days strait.Ive noticed a few things and wondering if it happened to anyone else. The DS has no problems going through very deep streams. But when hitting some pretty deep puddles where there is a big spash something in the ignition system is getting wet enough to where the quad will stall and barely start back up.When it does start when you hit the trottle it will just sit there and bog and choke for a few minutes. After it drys out for a minute or two it runs mint.If anyone has had this problem or has any sugestions please let me no. I doubt that it would be water in the airbox, since this would not dry out that fast. I would expect ignition, maybe the rev limiter/cdi, or maybe the ignition wire under the dash panel. Or, it could be water hitting up in back near the voltage regulator or on the surface of the battery.
Are your battery terminal caps covering the terminals fully?
What about the start wire? The starter wire will short the entire ignition system if that goes.
I haven't hit water yet with the DS, but these would be my best guesses with my experience with off road vehicles and vehicles in general.
Good luck and thanks for the heads up,

Well I guess I must be a real idiot then I like to have fun and push my machine to all extremes
there was a big water hole with 4x4's trying there luck. I told my brother to bring my scrambler and a strap back and I put my less than 25 hour DS 650 right in hit it hard drown myself water to my waist while sitting on the bike we pulled it out stood it up on end let it drain put it back down aired out the filter and restarted it took a few cranks but it fired up.no problems rest of the day (at least now i know what it will do) but I probably wont repeat SO LIGHTEN UP its all about how much fun we can have before we die.

Well here we go.I post a simple question in the Bombardier forum and theres always one smart *** 15 yo loser with a KawaSUCKi maHELPme to give feed back.First of all I spent 7000 on my quad to have fun on and ride it like a quad is saposed to be riddin, unlike your mohavi which probably sits in your garage with armarol on it.It must really suck to be you when you finally take your mohavi out and get spanked by no less than a honda 300ex as in the last issue of dirt wheels. If I ever see you on the road(notice i did not say dirt, because i no you dont want to get the mohavi dirty)I will feel no remorse driving over the top of you leaving Dominator tracks all over you and your green jap fenders. So if you cant say anything nice and cant afford a real machine.PLEASE STAY OUT OF THE BOMBARDIER FORUM!!!!!! I don't argue with anyone, and it doesn't bother me when people say what they will(that's life)
but I want to thank x250rDude for the heads up on the possible water problem, I had read your post before I hit the water(did it anyway)it was fun everyone got a laugh. Idont know how long you waited for yours to dry out,but my air box did get a lot of water in it. the foreward air tubes didn't go under and a lot of water got in anyway
but no electrical problems. hope you figure yours
out. have fun don't let words written or verbal ever bum you out.

My dad bought 2 Mojave's for a good price. I rode one once, ONCE! I happily went back to my 350X, at least until getting my DS 650.
Comparing a Mojave to a DS650 is like comparing a Ugo to a Corvette. No comparison. The Mojave was high tech, ten years ago! It's old, heavy, undersuspended and underpowered. It's great for beginners or people around 16 yrs old, but that's about it.
I'll add some Dominator tracks with ya x250rdude!
