Cobra exhaust sound on Warrior
#1
How does the cobra pipe sound on a warrior? I know its loud but does it sound as good as the more expensive pipes? Its hard to justify spending twice as much on an e-series when the performance gains from a pipe is not that impressive. Ive read a lot of the posts and still cant decide which pipe is for me. Does cobra at least sound good?

I dunno about not making more power, my modded engine wouldnt run at all with the stock pipe no matter how I jetted it, but it ran good with the cobra. As for power difference, over stock all I noticed was lack of torque and midrange but better throttle response. After it was modded it didnt matter what pipe or if any was on it, it always seemed the same...... fast. Cobra is really just the same as a car glass pack. Most of the other mufflers are just glass packs or chambered mufflers with discs stuck on the end.
BTW, they all rape you on price, I just moddified a car exhaust with discs (little bitty thing about the size of carton of milk). Its the same as a White Brothers, cept I had to make my own mounts and it is a little heavier because it has a whole lot of glass packing it it and the whole thing is really thick aluminum.

Oops, I forgot sound. On my warriorm, the guts blew out of it and it sounded like a pissed off V-8. Probably because it was acting like a megaphone and making echos. With all the guts in it, it sounds like the other pipes just a lil bit raspy and and not as smooth.

hey guys, thanks for the responses. Right now I'm running the warrior w/o the spark arrester in the stock exhaust and noticed a little bit of power gain. I'm thinking maybe I'll go ahead and get a cobra so it will sound better? I want it to sound loud and mean. I'm not expected a huge performance increase but even the expensive pipes don't offer much improvement. That would be cool if it sounded like a pissed off v-8, however I did hear a 300EX the other day with the e-series and it sounded sweet.

DO NOT GET A COBRA EXHAUST!!!
I had one on my old 350X and it was PAINFUL to ride. Te pipe is SO abnoxiously loud, and the sound is BArky, and ear-peiceing. sorry, but you need to spend the extra money, and get a quality pipe.

I liked my cobra hush puppy on my yz, it was a great pipe but NOT for quads. Cobra makes great bike pipes but i have read nothing good about the quad pipes. I am looking at pro-circuit and FMF. yoshi and wbros seem to costly to me.

I just sold my 92 Honda 250x. I had a cobra exaust and it was so loud... Now as for power it was good as long as you rejetted the carb and get a k&n filter... most ppl that i ride w/ didnt like me b/c of the loudness of the exaust.. so think twice before getting it..

ok..thanks for the advice. Now I think I will NOT be buying a cobra pipe. I have seen the supertrapp IDS 2 for around $180, HMF for $209, E-series around $250, where do you think is the best place to order a pipe?
