Dalton Industries Clutch Springs?
#1
Hey guys, was browsing around ATV nation the other night and came upon a post made by Dalton Industries.
It seems they are now making clutch springs for the 650. They have some technical info on their site, they state that they have a primary spring that is in between the stock and the EPI red in harshness. I've asked a few questions and waiting on reply to it. Anyone heard of them or tried out their springs?

I put in the Dalton "plain/white stripe" primary spring. The engagement is 300 RPM over the stock spring and 300 RPM below the EPI red spring that I took out. I really like it; very smooth and not as abrupt as the red spring. It seems to hold the RPM's a little more in the meat of engine's powerband. The red spring is now retired; the Dalton works better for me. Dalton also has a secondary spring; the guys at Dalton said if you already have the EPI black spring, you're good to go, the Dalton secondary spring virtually the same as the EPI black. For you V-Force guys: Dalton should have some clutch weights for the 700 by this summer. These may work on the 650 too, if the weight/curves are suitable.

The prices are about the same in the US, for us Canadians the Daltons are probably a little cheaper. A couple of springs aren't worth $50, but the research and development costs in developing them are worth more than $50.

I don't know. I always figured the R&D consisted of going to walmart and buying a screendoor spring and cutting it in half. Not literally, but how much work could it be?

I have an EPI black installed already. I have the Dalton primary here and waiting, just got to find the time and energy to install it.

I do need to get a set. I have plans for my quad, but I've got 1/2 dozen different projects going and haven't found time to dedicate to it. Projects and some major problems with the house I'm trying to build has tied up the last couple months. Someday I'll de-stockify it. Maybe send it to Alltoys with a blank check. Let me know how the 2 work together and maybe I'll send some $ to the great white north instead of EPI.
