Default Need opinions on 400i

Hey guy's, A buddy of min eis seriousy considering a 400i.(Gotta love that green one!!!)Anyway, the problem is there aren't many around here to know what they're like.I was hoping tthat the guys that own and run them could give me some honest opinions.
What's the power and speed like?Relaibility? How do they ride?I know that on the showroom floor they feel pretty stiff. What kind of range do you get out of a tank?Do they steer heavy?

I gotta say, the one we were looking at was a green one done up with AC chrome wheels,589's ,warn 2500 winch ,ACfront and rear bumpers and a passenger seat. With all that ground clearance that AC was one mean looking machine!

I have only heard bad things about the 400i. Im looking to get a new quad in that category and i am considering the eiger(probably my favorite), the outlander(2nd), and the Vinson. I think your friend should go with one of those, not the ac.

the 2003 400s are the same as the 2002 375s just with more opition as far as manuel and auto they have the same power plant .the 2002 400s were water cooled and less cc than the 375, which has the same engine as the eiger susuki makes i've had my 375 for a year and love it looking at other fourums everyone is having problems with there wheelers everybody from the honda guys to the ac guys some where down the line your going to have something go wrong but you just have to go with the flow to me ac has the best ride of them all in my opinon less electronics to fry on you .go with the cat if the deal is right and its got what he wants

2002 375 auto
2000#winch
custom made bumper with light grauds
(come to the dark side buy a cat)

arctic cat is a good name brand, thay honor their warrenty with no hassles and greasmky is rite theres not much electronics to screw up either. i love my 500i, its not a 400 but i would think its very much the same size and weight the ac 500 or 400 are both nice rides, stick with the cat you wont regret it the arctic cat is the best in my opinion. go cat

Got a 400i auto 4x4, overall love the machine . Can't seem to keep my daughter off the thing. The ride quality has it all over my buddies Honda Rancher and Foreman. Never required more than two cranks to start on the coldest days this winter. Not the quickest machine out there, but for trail riding you can't beat the ride, talking serious comfortable. With the ground clearence, I haven't gotten hung up on anything. My only complaint is it's not real good on the fuel consumption (4.25 gal. in 50 +- miles). Got a great deal, $5325.00 US out the door including taxes, assembly, freight and title as well as the 2500 lb. Warn winch. If I had to do it all over again, I'd definately fo the AC route.

400i auto 4x4
Warn 2500 lb winch
racks f&r
tool holder
tach and hour meter
hand and thumb warmers
R bumper
Brush guard
Flair extensions
3rd headlight
3 way hitch
And still have less than $6200.00 into it.

I bought two 2003 400i cats, one green and one red. We have 1200 miles on them now without any problems. The back tires are worn but that is it. Next weekend I need to check the valve clearance and change the oil, but thats it. We ride hard in the desert mountains, Alpine mountains, and Baja beaches and trails. The steering is easy in both 2 and 4 wheel drive. The only marks on them are the dents on the rims from hitting rocks. So far, the cats have handled everything we give them and don't complain.

Had mine about 3 months. Real happy with it so far. IRS is the way to go. Super nice ride. Steering seams about right for a 650 lb machine. Definatley built strong. It will go where you want it to go. Won't win any races. Tops out at 45 - 50mph once you get her rollling. Fuel consumption is a down side. 50 miles to the tank is a fair estimate.
Get one.
