Wher can I get exhaust and other mods for my V- Force??
#1
I have a new orange V-Force, I would like to hop it up a little. I read in a couple of different spots that there were dual systems in the works. Can anyone recommend any and point me to them? I got beat by my buddys' raptors on Firday in drag races. It was pretty even at first, I got the holeshot on the second race, but when they hit fifth gear they passed me pretty easily each time. So I am looking for some mods that will help in the drag times. Any suggestions with what kind of hp gains would help me, having a hard time finding anything on the net besides a White Bros. silencer. BTW the V-Force was a blast in the trail with plenty of power everywhere, the weight was a non-isssue, and I loved hill climbing with it. You can carry that front end very easily over whoops. Thanks for any help or suggestions....

VForceone ..... I put a HMF dual exhaust system on my 700. Also changed the jets , opened the air lid some. The Boys at HMF say the system adds 7 Rear Wheel HP with jets, but with out air box mods.
I think I got at least that much .... maybe more. I am guessing you have about 600 foot race course ????
( Rappy getting to fifth gear ) .... ( I am running about two quad lengths ahead of a moded Rappy in that
distance now )

We stepped off 100 yards. If traction is good GregV's Trinity Raptor can get my stock V-Force by a couple of lengths. If it's a bit softer that day , I can usually win at 100 yards, if we go further, he passes easily. I think it's important to have defined limits to a drag. If not, it all boils down to top speed. Vforcer, what kind of mods did the Raptors have? How much did the exhaust cost you?

You have out lined my experence at the 100 yard mark.....modded Rappy against stock KFX.
( so close that it depended on who got the best hole shot.) That is also the point where the Rappy
would start to pull away....
With the changes I have made ..... I win by two quad lengths at the 100 yd mark .... and at the
200 yd mark.
His mods include an HMF exhaust, jets, air box holes ........ 22" spider tracks , 42 tooth rear sprocket to
drop the ratio back to about what it was with the 20" tires... wheel spacers back, reversed rims front.
I installed the jets that HMF recommended .... and also opened up the air box using some sliding widows
I got from the dial-a-jet people. ( equals two square 1 1/2 inch holes ) I also installed a dial -a- jet induction sytem on the top side of the carbs. ( worth about two more jet sizes ) This quad responded very very well to those changes. Still incredibley smooth and responsive ......... more power in the mid band and upper band.
Coolintheice ...... The only info at the web site is the top banner .... but it give a phone number.
Here is what they will tell you if you call.....
Slip on muffler ........ 4 hp mid and top .......... $230
Dual exhaust ..... 7 hp mid and top .......... $525
The duals are very loud ( about 115 db) neighbors complaining ... The have "hunter baffles" for
$25 each if you order with exhaust system ... was told it would reduce the noise to 90 db with less than one
hp change on the top end only.

Vforcer, yes I would say that it was real close to 600 ft. drags. Those raptors were also stock, again I was under the impression that my V-force would do around 72-78 mph top speed, I have read that in a couple of forums. Was I misinformed? What is the actual hp at the wheels, and top speed stock? Does anyone know for sure? What are the Predator's and Raptors compared to that? That exhaust looks sweet, I wish you could see what the orange version looked like, I wonder if just the mufflers are orange, that would look good. Do the jets come with it? Sound will also be an issue with the neighbors, and at Silverlake Sand Dunes. So I can just add $50 total to the cost, and that will cover the Hunters? I just maintanenced it after the break in today, I think evertything is well designed. Did not understand the part about degrading the sealing efficiency of the element if the "edges are not turned over during installation"? I did not really notice an incorrect way of re-installing the element, after cleaning, drying, and retreating the elememt, I put it back in the way I took it out. There clearly is a top and bottom to it. Am I missing something you guys caught? Thanks, I'm working on that exhaust with the wife, it may be a while after she just saw the price......

I would say that in a stock to stock comparison ... both machines will have about the same top speed ... with maybe the edge going to the RAppy. The difference is that the KFX is restricted in stock mode enough.. that it takes longer to get from 60 to 75 than the Rappy does.
As for Hp on the rear wheels .... you can't measure it the same as a standard transmission bike. The auto continually varies (hense the name... CVT) I am told that the engine is producing about 50 hp at the crank.
( they can measure changes in rwhp with mods .... just can't compare that to non CVT machines )
As for the exhaust .... you can get that in brushed alum., Kawi green , or Kawi orange. THe colored cans (cans only) add about $40 to the cost ..... $525 plus $40 for colors.. plus $50 for the hunters. = $615 The jets do not come with them ... but HMF can supply them... $5 each ?
Haven't done the air filter thing yet ... sorry, no help there.

Thanks for all the info, at the very least I will try to get the slip on muffler. Maybe that and a K&N filter, if I can find one. Do you think that would give me around 5 HP?

five HP is a reasonable expection if you change the jets .... and a hole in air box to get the mix right ) ...
I am told that the air filter in this engine is the same as the 03 P650. Should not have problem finding one of those....
BTW ..... changing jets is super easy on this engine..... you can get bowls of the carbs without removing them
