Default Got My 22/11/10 - 8paddle extremes ??????

Got the extremes and think they are pretty cool.

Quick question! When I got them out of the box, they didn't look any bigger than my Sand Sharks (20/11/10's), and under further examination the tires are almost identicle in size. I looked at the size on the haulers just to make sure there wasn't a mistake and the size is right on the money.

What gives? And is this taken into account when you guys suggest 14/40 or 15/43 spockets???

VERY SURPRISING!

Are they inflated? They balloon up somewhat when inflated. The 15/43 gearing takes into account the larger than stock tires. Each tooth in the front sprocket is equal in change to three in the rear. With the larger tires one 3 tooth change is needed to bring the gearing to stock and one more 3 tooth to lower it from stock. Cheaper routes are 14/40 or 15/42 which I've heard does not require a longer chain. Aluminum rear sprockets are fairly expensive and don't live long on the DS making the 14/40 the best and cheapest way to go with the longest sprocket life. Anyone have opinions on this?

well ihave the 15-43 on mine, and 15-42 the wifes we have 20" ten paddle haulers on hers and it pulls the hill very hard it is a fun ride, i think after some comparisons the 42 is better. i just bought 23" paddles for mine so she will be getting the 22". so i also got some 14 tooth sprockets for the front, haven't had a chance to fully try them out. but for the oregon dunes sand and pitch of hills we race on the gearing that calulates out to hit about 50 mph in 3rd seems to work about the best. that was based on when we both were stock, and i had the 43 and her the 42 i had same tire but 9 paddle and she would pull me on the hill 40 pound difference and if we switch i would pull, so i recommend the 42. i ahve since switch to stage two and bigger tires and still need to find that sweet spot.

After you air them up it will change height.

I have two friends that got the exact same tires I have (22-11-10 10 paddle extreems) For some reason all three sets are different. One is on a wider wheel and that makes a lower height. The other two sets are identicle size with the same size wheel but they are 1" different in height and width. None of the paddles on the three sets are evenly spaced.

I think it depends on what tire they start with when the shave and vulcanize the paddles on.

Hing, I think that you are exactly right. Depending on how much they have to shave the original tire before the vulcanizing may play the biggest role. I have mine mounted on 9in wide rims so they might be a little smaller in diameter. Guess I should see what the gear calcs say after I do a rolling measurement. Obviously, if it comes out to be just like the 20in sandsharks, changing to me 42tooth front might not be needed. Guess only time will tell.
