Holy cow, whoever designed this set up should be fired, what a pain. Have to take the skid plate off to drain the engine, and how are you suppose to drain the oil tank without making a huge mess. Oh well its done, next time will be easier, I hope.

just trim out a hole for the engine drain & put a small catch pan under the tank.

When new I changed oil & filter every 5 hours till I hit 20 hours, after that it was every 20 hours for an oil change & valve adjustment.

why do you'll change the oil so often? I have a 2003 kodiak 450 and the manual says to change the oil after the first 20 hrs and then every 1,500 miles or 150 hrs.

Well unlike the Kodiak My Raptor is a high reving high preformance engine that takes a lot of abuse in drag racing & sand dunes so it's a lot harder on the oil so it needs changing more often.
Also oil is cheap & a seized engine isn't!!
So I change oil, clean the Scotts oil filter, put in a new spark plug & adjust the valves every 20 hours.

I agree! I took a 20 oz. plastic soda container, cut the bottom off and then cut out a v shape lengthwise on one side of it. I stick it through the skid plate from the bottom and unscrew the bolt--oil drains right down through, no mess. Cheap and simple
