Should I try to make mods to my fan,have a 2000 what is needed to do it?

I was having problems today with overheating, due to my fan not working. My battery went dead and it didn't have enough power to kick the fan on, and it ran like crap and died constantly without the fan. Granted, I was going pretty slow through the woods, but it has never done that when the fan worked properly.

My plan of attack to take some stress off of the fan is to get some engine ice (from highlifter, right?) and some shrouds from CT racing. This will come before I begin modding this summer.
