2000 DS 650 recalls or issues??
#1
I did a service check on the DS i'm about to buy. The guy at the dealer said 4 recalls or issues had been reported but had never been performed.
1. Something about the rear axle
2. Brake Hose routing
3. Ice forming ?? vent hose (dunno something like that) (I'm trying to read my dad's handwritting...kinda hard.)
4. Oil Pressure Switch
My DS is a 2000 and the dealer said they were never performed on mine.
How serious are these things, how much would they cost to fix, what can happen if they are left untouched??
Also, I have a pipe, TM45 and CDI, would Bombardier still do the recall on mine? even if it's a 2000. Thanks a lot...
Too many delays...I WANT MY DS!!
Help ASAP

i have 01's so i don't know about those issues. you might ask all they can say is no. but other wise ride till the axle bends and there was a few guys on here that went aftermarket and have stock ones sitting around. the other stuff doesn't seem bad. you should enjoy that stage one kit, seems the parts for stage two are only 800 bucks, it is the head for stage three that hurts. you might want to change to a 01 or newer oil filter cover that way you will be able to get filter easy.

Ok here's the skinny on th axle- put the axle hub on bloocks so the tires spin freely, place a hand on each side of the axle and wiggle it. If there is any play , the axle needs to be tightened , there is a cam style tightener on the left side( brake side) - a few of the 2000 Ds's came with loose axles from the factory (including mine)
Rear brake lines were not secured to the frame properly and could be inadvertently struck with your boot and knocked loosed and the line would loose brake fluid. ( also happened to mine)
Ice forming?????? maybe in akaska???
a pinched vent line from the fuel line can cause your engine to die- make sure it isn't pinched or better yet put a fuel cap on that has a vent on it.
Oil pressure switch- a few folks have had thier fail-- talk with the dealer about it.
The front a-arms were recalled for inspection when a few bikes made it out of the factory with out a upper retainer clip
these are about all I can think of for now.
the axle would be one to check befor you buy the bike so you don't get stuck with the tab if the bearings are shot.
good luck

About the ice forming on the breather line....
Mine is a 2000 and this happend to me this past winter. The breather hose runs from the side cover of the motor to the airbox. Where the hose goes to the airbox the intake line is right next to it. In the cold weather the breather hose expells moisture and the incomming air for the airbox freezes the breather hose inlet and causes pressure to build up in the crank case. You just have to check it when it is cold, and if it is froze you just heat it up untill it is melted, or you can rerun a hose somewhere else. The very worst that happend to me is the crank case built up pressure and blew the valve/cam cover seal off. Simple fix if it ever happens.

Ok Tyrespinner or Tirewhinner...Stop complaining... First you complained about the DS and what you didnt like, and for some unknown reason you went out and bought one. What are you dysfunctional or something?... I guess this should have been expected out of you. Imagine this.....You bought a quad that you complained and bitched about. You seemed to be stuck on the fact that it didnt do that well in the snow...Well no shizznit its a freaking quad. When was the last time you took your snowmoblie on a nice dirt mx track? I doubt ever.. I can remember the last time I rode my jet ski up and down the street. It was a helluva time. The neighbors got a little upset at the noise though. I just wish it didnt keep gettting stuck and wasnt so heavy on the pavement. Damn dude seriously come on. The DS is a top notch quad and I wouldnt trade it for anything. Especially not a Raptor. get over it. Sure it had issues. Just upgrade if you dont like something and then go out and kick ****. Sorry ive yet to hear about reacalls. Maybe things that dont perform as expected. Be happy its not a Raptor in which you would already be looking to upgrade the tranny to a 02' or newer cause they are POS's. Dude you bought the freaking Cadillac/Ferrari of quads. Just sit back wait for people to race you. Then try to wipe the $hit eating grin from your face as they attemt to keep up with you. Damn relax you made a good investment.
