Why does the KFX700(approx 12-13 MPG) get such bad gas mileage compared to the Raptor(approx 20+ MPG). They both have roughly the same cc's. The only difference I can see is the Raptor is about 100 pounds lighter and has a manual tranny. The MPG estimates were taken out of various forums. i don't know why but it is true. my buddy just bought a v-force and it is a gas hog. he has already ordered a a ims tank. i bet they sell a lot of them... he ran out and i still had about a 1/2 of a tank...

 

I would say weight , tranny and the 700 has 2 cylinders.

 

The raptor also has two cylinders(its dual carbed, right) they just are not in a V configuration.

 

dual carbs, 5 value head 3 intake 2 exhaust. thats y one jet is larger then the other ( 135/130 stock).....ONE cylinder!!!!!!!!!
and the peeforce is a fatty!!!

Ahem. cough cough. The stock jets are 140/145 for the Raptor.

The reason the 700 uses more gas imo is that you are wide open throttle more than with a geared bike and its heavier.
