Default Bayou 220 trade for 250x??

My friend wants to trade me his 1987 250x for my Bayou 220. Is this a good trade? His 250x starts on the first kick everytime. It is all stock and according to him has not been blown or rebuilt. It also has 25" tires (which make the thing look like a monster truck).

Bayou's are very cheap..in more ways then 1..the single front a arm setup is crap...the mechanical brakes are also less then ideal...so it really makes me wonder why someone with a 250X would want to trade...does the 250X still have second gear ?....there has to be something wrong with it and him....25"s on a sport quad..wth....throw those in the dumpster and put 20"s on it...make it handle and look like right.....if the X is not messed up I would deinatly trade...

It's really hard to say without seeing both quads. There's 12 years between them so it might not be worth it. It might be a better idea to sell the Bayou and then buy something else. I have a price guide from 2001 and that shows the Bayou being worth around $1070.00 more than the 250x. I'm not sure how they'd compare now.

I don't like the idea of 25" tires on the 250x. If he did that then what other wacky things has he done to it. He's probably thinking: "Wow, I can get a 1999 in trade for a 1987" I think a 250x is a better quad just because of things like the double a-arms compared to single. It depends on where and how you ride. It's easier to sell a 2 wheel drive sport quad than a 2 wheel drive utility. (from my experience) The main question is: Are they worth around the same price? Also, why does he want to trade? I'd advertise your Bayou for the going price (maybe slightly higher) and write in the ad that you'd consider sport quad trades.

go for the trade. the 250x is a great quad. it is a lot better than a Bayou 220. the 25 inch tires need to go though. it is a great deal for you so trade it.

That's a great trade if the 250x is alright, go for it.
