Since I'm having my cases split to do an "02" tranny gear upgrade, I'd like to do a big bore kit as well. I'm leaning towards a 105mm J.E. piston with Carrillo rod. I also plan on having the head ported and polished with new springs/retainers and a Stage II Hot Cam. My question is how well will this combo hold up for the long run? It will mostly be dune ridden and hill raced. Reliability is more of a concern to me than power. I'm not opposed to doing a re-ring every year or so, but I don't want to be messing with it on every outing either. Any opinions would be appreciated.

How big would a 105mm piston make your engine? I would think it might overheat faster. What do I know, I'm just a kid.

I think the carrilo rod is a good idea, are you going to have the it trured to account for the piston weight and rod weight ?? I believe when you go the 105 you need to nikasil the sleeve.

I am looking for opinions on who to hire to dynamically balance an aftermarket rod & piston & true the crank & assembly?
I've talked to a few honest engine builders who warned me to seek out a reputable company since most backdoor shops will charge you for a balance but they do little more than press it on.
Anybody know who really knows how to do it & what kind of fees they charge?

I would talk to TheRaptorMan, he has a 727.

BTW, for who ever asked, it's a 727.

But I would think you should contact Trinity Racing, there is a couple 727's running around here from Trinity, and they run really strong at the drag races. I hear they are reliable, so you should talk to them.
