The big differance is the 200cc between the two and you will only notice it when you hit the throttle.I beat my friends 2000 Kodiak in a drag race from start to finsh and than leave him behind on the top end being 5mph faster than his bike.If I tried that against a 600 Grizzly I would know how my friend felt like.

I have both of these 4 wheelers, well I should say I have A '00 Grizzly and my wife has A '00 Kodiak,in the woods and in mud the Kodiak will do circles around the Grizzly, the Kodiak has A much more responsive throttle then the Grizzly for instant bursts of quick power in tight situations.I find the Kodiak A much funner bike to drive if you like sporting around alot,it also has disc brakes all around liquid cooled, park on the tranny. The only place the Grizzly is better is in shear power and speed. This is my second Grizzly and last one,I have said before in A previous post that if Yamaha would put A 600 liquid cooled engine on A platform simular to the Kodiaks they would have A real winner. But the Kodiak is by far A better ATV then the Grizzly even if it is A bit slower.Just my opinion!

I just bought a 00 kodiak and it has plenty of power for me. yahama has taken all there knolage and put it in to this bear. I have no complaints at all I havent put a load on it yet but im shure it would do just fine. If you wanted to make a mud runner out of your machine I would go with the grizz beacuse it has more power to spin bigger tires. I also have a grizz and love it. for rec and lighter work i would get the kodiak for mudden I would go twards the grizz. I'm shure you will be happy with either one. It's just what you use it for.

I have ridden both many of times and the Kodiak is the bike that I would want to ride especially on long trail rides. The Kodiak's handling is far superior to the Grizz's. The ride is 100% smoother on the Kodiak. The Kodiak is only about 5mph slower than the Grizz so you wouldn't be giving up much speed. Who goes 55mph in the woods anyways? The Kodiak is also liquid cooled so on those warm summer days you aren't going to lose no where near the horsepower the Grizz is going to lose because of heat build up. What does that mean? A longer life engine. Go with the Kodiak!
