Default Carb Removal

My main problem is that when I try to pop a wheelie from a stand still it will bog. I had my valves checked and they are fine. In fact, when I was on a trail ride in Salamanca I had to go from the 3rd to the 2nd clip or it would bog terribly ( I almost didn't make it up some hills). This helped but it still bogs. After looking at some threads, I was wondering about floats being off. I never had this problem until I added the Dyno Jet Kit. I want to remove the carb but have never dealt with a flat slide. How do you remove the throttle linkage? Everything else is just fuel lines and breather lines. Does it sound like the floats or another problem? Should I just move down to the first clip? Any help would be appreciated. The dealer is quite expensive and doesn't have any experience.

Unless you changed the float setting when installing the new dyno jet main...it should be fine. Don't know what main you started with. But most DS's seem to like between 185 and 190 with clip on 3 notch from the top. Thats usually good for around 1000 ft to 1600 ft elevations and about 80 degree days. You should start there. Then work on the clip position first. Dial it in to get best throttle respose. When you like that. Then work on the main. For best WOT results. never try to dial in ,ore than one circuit at a time on a carb. You'll go crazy.

Main jet is a DJ 185. Tried 3rd clip and would bog seriously bad when trying to ease through the gears or take an uphill climb. I went down to the second clip and was tremendously better but still not right. There was a lot of hesitation. I was thinking of removing one of the two thin metal washers under the clip, mabye just leaving the ceramic disc. What do you think?

It should not be giving you this kind of trouble IMO. Have you tried puting the makuni jet and neddle bvack in to see if that gets rid of the hesitation and bog. If it does...then you have a bad kit and need to exchange it for a new one. If it doesn't then the problem is elsewhere. Also does the bike backfire when you let off on the throtle going down hill and let the engine rev as it wants too. If it does then you need to take some more turns out on the air screw. But I would think that would have anything to do with your current problems. I would switch back and see what happens first. Carbs can be very frustrating for sure.

You know I just thought of another thing. Do you have the hose hooked up that goes from the carb to the intake boot. The one between the carb and the Air Filter? Or is it plugged in any way. That is what actually opens the slide via vacume. Check that too.

I'll give that a try. What do you think of removing some of the spacers?

Hose seems unobstructed. Should I continue to move the needle leaner? The wheelie condition was never really resolved in the threads.

When I had the dyno jet kit in my stock carb I installed it just the way the kit said. Spacers and all. And mine ran perfect after the install. SO I would have to say, no to removing the spacers. I don't remember the exacxt sequence the spacers and everything is supose to be in. But if you installed them acording to the directions then that should work best.
