Samcoe 720 update!
#1
Hey, i must say we were very impressed by Samcoe sleeve and head work. he used a copper O-ring on sleeve with an aluminum tripple head gasket .. the head gasket had a rolled lip for the O-ring to fit into..it held together like a champ! no more head gaskit leaks what so ever! this 720 kit put out some serious power.i have had different types of motor combos and have never felt power like this.. SAM himself called us for updates and had exellent customer service.. my bike is going to Samcoe[the whole thing] i am going with the 833 kit that he is working on.. after seeing his machine work i feel confident with any of his work. just thought i'd give you guys an update. If any of you are in Vegas i would strongly recomend to NOT let Marine pro shop do any after market work on any DS 650 they have cost me over $2000 in time and repairs!!!! they ripped out my O-ring, chipped my sleeve and then put it back together and told me to just go ride it! luckily i had Tony{Punisher] tear the motor down to inspect it and confirm Marine Pro Shops terrible work. I am just speeking from first hand experience... i hope to save everyone some trouble for future refference. I would never bad mouth anyone unless truely deserved.

Oh, almost forgot!!! Samcoe is also working on a solid 760 kit. i think now that the gaskit leaks in the head are resolved, these problems shouldnt be an issue.. hope this helps...later fellas

YeP!! Sam has got his 720 kit finally realized. After all of us did the testing he took our input and got it corrected. I had sent a pretty stern letter to SAm about his lack of customer service and development work and he was kind enough to recognize this. He gave me a call and has corrected all the mistakes to Mario's motor and if need be mine for a minimal charge. He has been in contact with us everyday almost since then to see how things were going. Sam has really stepped up to the table now and his 720 kit is pretty much perfected now. One word of advice is: send your cylinder to him to do the sleaving and boring, because a lot of your machinists out here don't have much of a clue on how to get it set up. So I will fully endorse Sams 720 kit!! It is Worth it!!!

105mm with a 1 inch base plate and one heck of a stroke to make 833. I have been testing this 720 kit and am very happy with it! i easily took a 727 raptor up comp hill.. the trick is that you just have to let Samcoe do the work.. i can bet you will be very happy with your new 720 i think the dyno will be shocking! i would not be changing a thing if i didnt blow a rod berring.. but i must go bigger now!!

well that was an expensive and short ride- but the next is gonna be awesome! an 833 - very sweet! how long is the turn around gonna be? I was also impressed by sam during the conversations we had, he seems like a real straight up guy, I hope that he becomes one of the premiere builders for the DS- he's innovative, has a wider range of packages than most and I believe he has demonstrated that he will stand behind his work.
Hard luck with the bearings - the same thing happened at our local shop with some dudes DS - the shop did some top end work , started it back up and with in 5 minutes it siezed in the shop- oil screen was totally plugged up in the reservoir. I posted it but that was maybe a year ago - I check mine everytime I do an oil change, for the extra 10 minutes it's piece of mind.
Good luck!
