How about the Price? Did it go up?

Look for a story on the 500 auto in about a month? They are riding it in Canada this weekend.

Andy, did you get the Fram Filter part number? If not I have it.

The 2000 500 has a fuel switch located like the suzuki 500 and has a hydraulic rear foot brake.

No, I don't have a part number or a manufacturer for the filter yet. I figure the Automatic to be about $200 more than the standard probably.

I noticed that spacers were mentioned. We had some guys that wanted 27 inch tires on their 500 Cats with lift kits installed. They also were running aftermarket wheels. This presented a problem with the tires rubbing the lift kit brackets. Whats so bad is that the 27 inch tires will fit without a lift kit and not rub, but these guys wanted their Cats to look really big. We had our local machine shop make some spacers for the front of these select few Cats. The spacers were 1 and a half inches wide. The big disadvantage to this was the weight of the spacers, they were made from steel. Now here is an idea, I don't know if it will work but it should. The Cats have a 4 on 115mm bolt pattern. That is the same as a Banshee. The wheel spacers that Dura Blue make for a Banshee are 2 and a half inches wide. These are made from aluminum and could be cut with a band saw for whatever width you need and all you would have to get is the bolts to hold the wheel on. This is just a thought.

Man, you don't log in for a couple of days
and they change everything, don't they!

I bought my AC 500 (99 model) at the same
dealer as Mark (CAT500) and paid $5899.
($100 cheaper b/c it was a 99 model, and
they only had one left when I got mine!)
I asked them about the 500 auto and they
said it would not be on the showroom floor
until sometime in October, and that they
would be about $400 more, or $6399!

I really like mine so far, really haven't
been able to break it in yet. I've been
babying it, havent' been over 30 mph yet,
but it seems awfully tight, like it won't
do more than 40-45mph or so. Does it
loosen up quite a bit after break in?

Rob, I waited till about 50 miles before I took it all out. According to the speedometer, I hit 53 on pavement. It has 600 on it now, and indicates about 57-58 on pavement now. It was wierd, I just took it out one day going about 5 miles to a friends house, and it just ran faster. That was around 450 miles. As for it seeming like it is only capable of 40-45, it takes it a while to get there, and doesn't really accelerate quick. Its just a constant steady gain in speed. 30-50 seems about the same ammount of time as 50-57 it seems. The octane definitely has a say in it too. I run 91 in mine, but about 2 weeks ago I ran 87 and it dropped about 3 mph. I'm going to try 93 sometime, but I'll have to drive to the next town to get it. Trust me, it will loosen up on you a lot after 300 or so.

This is the number I was given for the Fram filter. I haven't tried it personally, yet, but I will. Fram #314-0618
