won't start up
 

I was trying to crank my '98 454 the other day and it just wouldn't start up. The engine was turning over it just would not fire. I took out the spark plug and cleaned it up real good and it didn't fire up still. It seems like every now and then it would sputter but wouldn't fire up. It seems like a pretty easy fix, just wondering if anybody could help me out.

Does the 454 have a 'primer' lever on the carb like my 400i model. After sitting for awhile I have to use mine also.

im not a motor head or anything.. but i think that sounds like a starter maybe? good luck fixing it.

Hey Jockdawg! A short while ago I had the same problem with my '97 454 AC, I primed the carb with the primer pump still nothing, I looked at the plug it was clean and I turned it over and there was no spark, so A new plug was in order. I tried it again, nothing. It turned out it was the fuse was burnt out, I change it and everything was great, except for the teasing I received from the in-laws( honda fans). As for why the fuse went in the first place I have no idea, maybe it was just weak. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
