04 400 - top speed?
I've got almost 1200 miles on mine, and my wife has about 950 on hers. We've seen 45 mph on our GPS's as we cruised along. Way faster than we feel comfortable at, but we just "had to see" once we had more miles on them. My wife actually can slowly leave me behind, but I think it's because I'm 205 and she's about 130.
The speedo shows faster of course, but I believe our GPS's.

Well, I haven't mounted the GPS on the 400 yet. Only have the quad digital speed o to go by. Did compare the digital speedo to the GPS on the AC250 at 25 mph an I only read 1 mph fast. So 50 should be a max of 2 mph off, then again digital speedos are known for keep a constant error no matter what the speed. Will get the GPS on this week and will check it again. I still think 45 or 46 is splow and maybe the oversized tires. Horsepower determines top speed and changing the overall gear ratio with larger tires can slow you down if with the stock tire you weren't against the rev limiter.

Our 04's have the good old fashioned analog dial type speedos, and the difference in speed on our top end was more than five miles per hour (GPS vs. Speedo). It doesn't really matter that much 'cuz a top end run is a rarity with us. If I'm doing 45, I figure I'm on the wrong road anyway...
My buddies 'heirloom' 82 Honda 200 doesn't even have a speedo, and it's never lessened his fun.
What I'd really like is an accurate gas gauge.

MrTommy; My 2001 AC250 has no speedo either. Have to use the GPS if want to know speed, however likes you said the lack of a speedo hasn't lessen the fun we have with it. And these things aren't really meant for high speed anyway and most people are over their heads doing fast runs just like they would be in their cars.

And those gas gauges are a joke. I end up just using my trip meter as my gas gauge and figure 20 mpg to be on the safe side.

Oregoner; The gas gauges on the tank are the old float style from a hundred years ago. If they don't rattle they don't work at all. You could look into these new sensor type gauges that have no moving parts, but then you are gonna have to find a place to mount the gauge dial. I just mainly pay attention to how far I've traveled. With the 250 I was getting almost 40 mpg, the 400 does about have that.
Muddy Pup, As I said befor my new 400 manual does that 51 mph on the digital speedo with me weighing in at 265, so you be skinny compared to me.
