Have the chance to buy a 2003 Artic Cat 400 4x4 auto. Looking at the Artic Cat web site I find there are 3 models that are 4x4 auto's. They are 4x4 auto, 4x4 auto act and 4x4 auto mrp. What is the difference if any between the 3? I now own 2 older atv's a Honda 1986 200sx and a 1987 Kaw. 220 bayou. The person is asking $3,500 with a winch and 300 miles for the Artic Cat 400.

My brother in law has an '03 400 auto.. I'm not sure about the "act", but I think the MRP is just the rack option... seems to me he has about 300 miles on it, you'd be hard pressed to get him to part with it for 3,500- though his widow might

Auto is automatic trany
MRP is the Multi Rack Platform - ie plug in rack component system
ACT is the rear suspension type. God only knows what that means as there is nothing on the hokey AC website. But based on what I could find from other sites Its what they called thier pre2005 independant rear suspension.

Maybe they need to hire a non-highschool webmaster. For such a big company their web scheme leaves much to be desired.

ACT stands for "Arctic Cat Technology". They use that phrase for their snowmobile shocks too. Kinda weird if you ask me.

The ACT is a semi-independant, 4 link rear end. It rides, IMO, better than the IRS design. You should see this thing articulate, you'd be amazed, looks like a Jeep on the Rubicon. The ACT is AC's first design when they started building quads. It's a bulletproof design that has had VERY little problems. It's generally cheaper than the IRS, has less CV joints and rides comparably. I'd take a serious look at it, I have to recommend one, and if they offered it in the new 650, I'd get it again.
