Need tech. assistance... Is this a V. Regulator problem?

I have a 2000 500 Auto. If I turn my fan off it will die, sometimes with the fan on I can't do much more than idle unless I turn the lights on. It runs fine with the lights on and fan on... Isn't this going to be the voltage regulator? If so, where is the cheapest place to get one. Thanks in advance, Rob

No one has seen anything like this? Does anyone agree or disagree with my diagnosis?

I seem to remember a post on here a while back in which his engine would not run past an idle if the lights were on or something like that. He replaced the voltage regulator and his problem was fixed.

You can do a search for voltage regulator and probably find it.

I have not had any trouble like you described or with a voltage regulator for that matter. But, based upon what I read and how you described your problem it does sound the same.

There is a way to test the voltage regulator in the maintenance manual. It involves using a volt meter and such.

Those things are pretty spendy so I would check all my connections first, which you probably have done already. Then test the regulator. Replacing it if needed.
