Folks I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on a new AC 400 Auto. I really like the AC, but today I saw the KingQuad 400 Auto. I didn't realize they were so close in price. I noticed one thing that stood out, the AC has DIFF Lock and the Suzuki had Hi Lo range tranny. I really like the HI Med LO range that my current AC 300 has. Does the AC 400 have this?
Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on which has better features and options overall?

Does the Suzuki have Independent Rear Suspension?

i believe the king quad is a solid axle, the diff lock is a great feature i have an 06 400 and it is a far more capable machine when the going gets tough. the kingquad is a nice machine and is faster than the cat. a friend has an eiger and it cant keep up on the technical trails. the 12 in ground clearence the 10 in suspension travel, the diff lock all make the cat a great machine. if you were going to purchase a 700 kingquad or something with similar features to the cat it would be a tough decision. but diff lock is the difference between makeing it or being pulled out by a buddy who then will never let you live it down. good luck in your decision either way there nice machines

 

I have a 07 650 and it has hi and low range and i think the 400 does as well. I believe in the 400 you can get a manual as well. It works well and the diff lock is awesome. Go with the Cat.

It was no problem, i just hope it helped you out and you make the right decision. Is sucks to buy something expensive, then realize you should of gone with something else.

 

yes the 400 has or had hi/low. pretty sure all the ac 4x4 do. all have diff lock except the 366. the 400 used to be either auto or manual, but i just checked thier home page and it only showed an auto. the 500 was either though.

 

all the ac models have a hi and low including the 400 the torque in low gear is awesome. also mudslinginfool is partially right all models except the 366 and the 400vp models have a diff lock. just wouldnt want ya to buy a vp model and end up dissapointed

 

man, thanks Rango. I see a special price on the web (local shop) for a 2006 400 VP. I was wondering what VP means and the difference between that model and the 07 one I'm looking at. They have it marked down to 4600. Other than the DIFF lock, is there any other reason you wouldn't recommend it?

 

the vp stands for value package. the vp is a solid rear axle i remember the display being different but i dont remember how. there is no 2 in reciever on the vp and its also full time 4x4. me and a buddy both ordered the same 400s at the same time and the dealer built him a vp on accident and just by looking at it you could tell the difference. the price is good for the vp but ill tell ya the difflock was why i bought the other model and not the vp. i love having the 2 in reciever it makes it soo easy to just throw the pintle off of your truck into the back of your atv and tow whatever you like boat etc. and the fulltime 4x4 was a big turn off for me. these atv are very capable that you will very rarely find yourself needing 4x4 unless in a hairy situation or plowing etc. so why bother with the additional wear and tear on your components plus if you ride pavement you will not like fulltime 4x4. do some searching youll find a good price on a regular 400. try buying a leftover model there are big price breaks with leftovers. i originally wanted a vp model but after seeing the regular 400 and the price difference between the 2 it was definately worth the extra $$
