what do u think

hey i got a 08 700 efi. just wanted some honest opinions on the machine from people that have had them for a while goods and bads. how deep can u go with these before you run into water problemsl looks to me like the stock snorkels go up right under the handle bars.

if im thinking correctly ,you dont want to go much farther past the top of the radiator. maybe even lower.after that you start sucking water into both your air intake and belt housing. you can see the intake under your front plastic, its like a black plastic box under there. That is where both air intakes are. then there is where you have the out side of the belt housing in the rear.

I don't have an 08 700 efi but this post has been very informative. http://storeyourpicture.com/images/signature_ATV.jpg

How do you like your machine? I am looking at a 09 700 H1.

How is the low end torque and mid range power?

Any reliabilty issues?

hey g21c, i have the susuki 700 so its not exactly the same, but from what i understand, the H1 has more torque. the zuki engine has 40hp and they arent real fast, which is what you want and i wanted. the bike has more than enough power for what you want. So far i havent had any issues but i only have 400 miles on it. This is my 3rd cat and my 2002 500 had around 4,000 miles with minor issues that were my fault and brake problems. they just never worked correctly. I did alot of mudding though. i think they are great bikes but havent seen the H1 yet.

i have about 400 miles on mine i love it, tons of power and ground clearance. although the stock tires suck ass, the 09s have better tires. i also have the arctic cat front and rear bumpers and a 3000 pound warn winch which is a must with all the ground clearance when your stuck your stuck., idk how fast you need to go but ive honestly had it up to 65 mph twice with 2 people on it on the dirt road and thats more than enough for me. you need to go faster than that get a sport quad. so this is my first ac but i love it.

All Arctic Cats 400cc+ have the worst air intake system of any machine. The filter and box are under the steering wheel, and thats where the intake should be as well, but instead it runs to the front, and is built around the filler cap for coolant. So basically if youre going into a deep hole nose first and water is approaching the top of your headlights, it is also approaching your air intake. Kinda crappy. Also the tranny intake is there as well, but the tranny output is in the very top of the right rear fender, which is again stupid, so if your back end is in deep water and you let the RPMs get too low, your belt will be slipping and smoking in no time. Hopefully they choose to fix these design flaws in the near future. I take it you have the 08 700 EFI w/ a Suzuki engine vs an 08 700 EFI SE w/ an AC H1 engine. Also 07 and newer machines have Goodyear Rawhide RS tires, which have a similar tread pattern to the Interco Swamplites. Best stock tire you can get short of the Carlisle ACTs on Polaris and Can-Am ATVs which are more similar to ITP Mudlite XTRs, which IMHO are the best mud/trail tire you can buy. But you should be satisfied. If you plan to go in mud deeper than the headlights I would suggest a snorkel.

i am a mechanic so i know i can build my own snorkle but are there any nicely fit after market kits that are bolt on? as far as tires go rawhides suck. i have them and they are worthless in mud i will be upgrading

tehpwnerer19 07-17-2009 09:49 PM

The Rawhides have never let us down in the sticky ****. Guess it depends on the driver.

well mine pack up and look like racing slicks, im going to mud lights. ill admit they are awesome in every thing except mud and they are not bad in mud if there is a bottom, but in the bottom less bogs im not impressed. the newer cats "09" have much more agressive tires stock.
