03 400 auto wont crank / turn over

Was riding over the weekend with no issues stopping / starting. Parked the quad last night, tried to start this morning and it wont crank.

New battery, hooked charger to it to make sure (fully charged), replaced fuse - still get nothing.

Its an automatic with the "start in gear" function. Am still able to pull start it.

Would a starter just give out? Havent had any problems with it in the past.

With key, hand brake engaged, when I push the starter button - I hear nothing. No click - nothing.

Any ideas what to chase first?

Have you checked the voltage to and from the solenoid...? Sounds like either no trigger voltage from the start switch to the solenoid, or the solenoid is bad, even if the starter was bad the solenoid should still be clicking if you have 12vdc present....

Best regards,
Max

I have a 05 Actric Cat 500. It wont turn over. When you hit the starter button, it just clicks. I thought it was my battery(which was almost new but cheap) so I replaced the battery with a factory quality sealed battery. Still, wont turn over. Just clicks louder. Occasionally it will start. But its completely random.... out of the blue it will click then turn over. 99.9% of time, nothing.

It will pull start on the first pull. No problem... runs perfect.

Any ideas? My thought was to try the solenoid next, but I am no mechanic and hate to start throwing parts at the problem with so little idea about what the problem could be. I charged this ATV right before this problem started using a low voltage maintainer with a cig lighter plug in. I am worried i shouldnt have done that on an ATV?? Battery was slow last time i used it, so knowing i was about to need it for hunting season I charged it that way, so I can not help but wonder if I messed something up.

Any Ideas?
