ATV Shocks

Hey.. I was wondering if ATV shocks have to replaced eventually? My Arctic Cat bounces like no other when you push on the rear rack several times. The front suspension works beautifully, but the back is horrid. Is there a way to adjust the suspension?

Thanks for any tips of information.

Hi bud,

I sometimes share your frustration as replies often run thin here ;)

Not exactly sure of your shock as fitted there but some can be adjusted & serviced. You'll need to pull it out or consult a service manual for precise info.

Bushings can be siezed up? Both shock and trailing arm units to be checked.

Spring tension / pre-load setting? Is it adjustable?

How's tire pressure, can also affect handling and bob all over the place.

Many forget that front set up can affect rear performance. Had same with my DVX 400 {same as LTZ 400} in that front [PEP & Lone Star] was so soft that rear [stock] felt like a rigid dog. Sorted the rear's rebound and spring adjustment to match my weight.

Good luck!

Turn the pre-load collar to a stiffer setting with a pipe wrench and see if that helps. Should be 5 settings on it,unless its already set to the stiffest setting.
