Default 2000 arctic cat 500 manual 4x4

Does anyone know if the manual for the locking front like the automatic did in 2000?
Looking at getting one. If not is that something that could be put in?

It's a 1998 so, no locker.
Are these any good? Can I put a locker in?

By locker are you meaning selectable from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel driver, or are you meaning a locked differential in 4wd? (not limited slip, both axles pulling full time at an even rate) I think the automatic came out in 2000 and it had selectable 4wd to 2wd. If was a push lever on the left inside fender. The manual did not have this option. Not sure that the 2001 manual had it either, seemed like they offered "Bold New Graphics" that year (though they may have updated the rear end on the manual at that time so that it didn't sit so low and the drain plug didn't always get knocked loose) I know they did in 2003 though on the AC500i at least. As far as whether a differential from the AC500 auto could be swapped into a manual version, I don't know. The 1998/99 AC500 was a pain to steer though.

Locker - locked front diff or posi (where power is divided between front wheels)

Nothing has ever been offered to my knowledge. One of the main reasons why I got rid of mine. I rarely use the diff lock on my Grizzly, but its there if I need it and it makes a difference.

I just picked up an 06 brute 750i. Quite the upgrade for me. The cat will be a back up.

I never found not having locking dif a problem, if 1 front tire starts to slip, touch the front brake, bingo. Try it if you ever get in a tight spot. To me, tires count for way more.

I think the Honda system works a lot like that too. Hit the brakes and it confuses the system into locking the front diff on older models that didn't have it. I had a Grizzly 660 with diff lock and it didn't use it much. The Brute has the lever to engage diff-lock and I think I have used it maybe 3-4 times in the 2 months I have had it. Good tires will help a quad without diff lock get through a lot. I think you will really like the power upgrade the 750i will give you.

My 2001 AC has 30" Mudzillas, only in the greasiest mud or snow/ice do I need 4wd, even, but my AC 400 has 25" Maxxis GT tires and spins 10X's easier. Just saying, some more aggressive tires may out perform a diff lock.
