Default running at slow speed without slipping the clutch

How do I maintain a slow pace without over heating the clutch - keeping in a "low gear"

If its an auto, you put it in low range. If its manual, you simply use 1st gear. Some manual shift quads also have separate high and low range. So instead of 5 forward gears, they actually have 10. Usually 1st gear on most quads won't get you going very fast. 1st gear is usually used for loading and unloading and heavy work.

Yep, keep it in low gear if you're talking about a belt driven quad. That turns the fins on the pulleys of the CVT faster to provide cooling. Don't go slow in high gear unless it's a very short time. If it is not a belt driven, I'd check the fluid to see if it's burnt or not. Change it and see if that helps. Honestly, haven't heard of a regular transmission overheating a clutch on the semi or fully manual clutches.

You should mention which model AC you have.

yup... agree with hydrex, greg and moose..
And along with telling us what model you have: year, CC's, auto/manual etcetera... you'll need to be a bit more descriptive. "Slow Pace" will have as many different definitions to as many different people that you ask.

My "slow pace" in low gear is anything from initial movement to hitting the rev limiter in low.
