I'm looking at buying some new tires for my Cat. I ride tons of miles on our great atv trails in Wisconsin, which include every single type of terrain. I decided that I want to buy either the new 589 m/t or the goodyear mudrunners. Both tires will be the 26 inch sizes. 26X9 fronts and 26x12 rears.

I have a set of Mudrunners on my Rancher and am very pleased with them so far and my riding partner has the new 589 mt on his foreman 450 and he likes them also. I feel the mudrunners are a better trail tire for cornering ride ect but the 589's might do a little better in deep mud and are a bit cheaper in price. I feel either one of them would be a good tire for you or you might even check out Bearclaws as they seem to be a good all around tire.

I don't think you could go wrong with either one. I have the Mudrunners and I've been very happy with them, but I probably would have bought the 589's if they were available in a 25" size to fit my Rancher's 11" rear wheels. The Mudrunner is probably the better all-around tire, the 589 is probably the better mud tire and is a little bit cheaper. Check www.rockymountainatv.com for prices on the 589's and www.treaddepot.com for the Mudrunners. Good luck.

I have Goodyear Mudrunners on my kodiak and like them alot. They work good in mud and snow and ride well on hard pack. I would buy them again, they are a great all around tire and should work good for what you need.

I personally rather 589s. They are a VERY good tire that is cheaper than Mud Runners. I would pick them over the Mud Runners anyday, but thats a personal oppinion. I feel that they are both good tires, just personally rather 589s.

BTW: 589 M/T's are now avalible in 25x10x11" sizes

I do like the 589's and am leaning that way. My next problem is tire size. I was looking at going with the 26 inch sizes. I have read that the 589's are actually undersized. As far as a 27 inch tire actually being a 26 inch tire etc... If they are I would buy the 27's instead. I don't know if the Mudrunners run a true size or not...

the mudrunners are larger than the claimed tire size
26-12-10 is really 26.4-12.2-10 (33 lbs)
and the 25's are 25-11-10 are really 25.4-10.7-10 (25 lbs)
the 589's run 1/2 to 1/4 in smaller than advertized.
both great tires, gy for trials and 589's for more muddy situations.
I'm leaning towards gy but they are a little $$$$
look at iowahunter pics w/ 25' over old 25's - impressive

I faced the same decision you are facing several months ago. I decided to go with the Mudrunners because they are great mudders and good on the trail as well. They made 4x4 steering feel like 2x4. Also you cant go wrong with goodyear. They cost a little more but unless you are going to do hardcore mudding all the time, Id go with the mudrunners.
