I have an AC 300 4x4,2001 after about an hour of riding I get a squeak. It appears to be associated with the brakes. After listening to other AC's on the trail with me, they all do it.

Anyone have a suggestion for a fix?

Thanks

It is a pretty common problem with the ACs. It will go away after the brakes wear in a bit. The best thing to do is to get up some speed and brake hard a bunch of times to help your brakes wear in.............

With the way atv disk brakes wear that's a good wear to wear them out, not in

My dealer did exactly what Mudpuppy says. They burnish the brake pads on all new Quads by running the ATV up to speed and braking hard several times.

The other reason your brakes are squeaking is because the brake lever doesn't always return to its extended position and it actually is causing the pads to lightly rub the rotors. There isn't much that can be done about this problem because it is the return spring on the master cylinder. Temporary solutions are to push out against the brake lever or lift up on the foot pedal. You can also try and taking the pads off and putting some that automotive stop squeak on the brakes. This generally keeps them quiet until you apply the brakes again.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try all, but it sounds to me like I have to live with the squeak.

Well, you could always buy and aftermarket pipe. These are slightly louder than the stock and would cover up the squeaking noise.

You might try taping a piece of duct tape to the back of the brake pad that is in contact with the piston. The tape basically works just like the stop squeak recommended.I also found the screw holding the brake handle on to be a little to tight, took out greased the pin/screw and put back together. Now my brake light will work right and the handle fully returns.
