I have a 02 cat300 and it just won't stay running when it's cold unless you throttle it while the choke is on, I know there cold blooded but it seems kind of ridiculous to have to worm it up for 10 minuets. It's only 4 months old is this normal? My kawi jumps to life with only 1/2 choke and stays running.

My manual states to warm it up for 2 to 10 minutes before riding. It's alsways been warm enough to ride in under 3 minutes though. Hasn't been too cold up here in Minnesota

The 250/300 models are famous for doing this when the valves are out of adjustment. If that doesn't work, it normally means you are not setting the choke in the correct position.

My dad has the same thing with warming up his 02 cat 300 4X4. I don't know this is true or not, but the dealer told him it will go away after he puts on a few more hours. The only problem is he only uses it for deer hunting a couple times a year, so it may take years to find out if it is true. Let us now if you have any luck after you put on a few more miles/hours. As far as this winter goes, I think us up here in MN got a raw deal.... But of course that is coming from someone who also likes to ride snowmobile. Good Luck with your cat.
