I am getting a quad, and I have narrowed it down to these 2 quads, The AC 250 2x4 or the Suzuki Ozark 250. These 2 quads both have the same price, same cc (246), both have 4 stroke, both have the same ground clearance. But the AC has front and rear disk, and the Suzuki has disk in front and drum in back.

I guess my real question is, is the AC made for sporty use, or is it made for like working, cuz I want to take mine in the woods, go in mud, and all over. I know in this case I should get a 300cc, or a 4wd, but I dont have the money, so im stuck between these two modles.

The AC will be made more for working. The specs are the same between the 300 & 250... Same towing and everything. It just has a different motor and if you get the 4X4 in the 250 you will not be able to shift out of 4 wheel drive or get the mud flaps - stock. They do have add on kits so you can shift in and out of 4 wheel drive and get the mud flaps.

Also the Cat has Rear Independant Suspension so the ground clearance that is quoted is the ground clearance front to back.

I've got the Cat 250. Had it out this weekend. I will say that I've been really surprised at how well this little 2x4 does. It's not a sporty machine, but it does all right. In the woods on the tight trails is where it shines. Lots of torque for a small machine, crawls over things well, and decent ground clearance for a small machine. Load some weight on the racks, and it barely squats.

If you are looking for a machine that will run up to 45 quick, and be able to run the wide open trails quickly then don't buy the Cat. If you want a good ride with the ability to manipulate around tight trails, haul a little weight, and just enjoy the ride get the Cat.

I loved my AC 250 4x4, and the guy who owns it now loves it too. It's not the fastest but it will go through some of the nastiest stuff around. The best thing to do is to test ride both. See which one you prefer, heck you're the one who has to live with for a few years. Maybe you should even check out the Recon, Rally, and Beartracker. This is a test out the 250 class in the new ATV Magazine (I think). Personally I’d buy either the Cat, or the Rally or the Suzuki. Have fun shopping.
