Default Memorial

Many of us are grieving the passing of "old polaris tech". I believe he emulates the purpose of ATV Connection. He was very knowledgeable, willing to share his knowledge, helped "non mechanics" to diagnose their problem, and always remained courteous and kind. He will be missed.

I would like to suggest ATV Connection create a small memorial of old polaris tech on their home page header. I suggest it say "In memory of old polaris tech" and then the "unique" avatar he used through the years. I suggest maybe a just little more than a square inch of space in the upper right hand corner.

So many of us followed his threads and posts. It would be great just to see his avatar everytime we log on.

OPT In everlasting memory...

David

I would second that recommendation, even make a donation if needed to get that done!! Even those of us that were non-Polaris owners found OPT to be most helpful. Moderators please let us know what options we might have to commemorate OPT....

Not sure if any of you remember Raptory (Raptoryfn660r), but he was one of the people that got this site started. When he passed away, what I did for him was add to the title of a thread he often posted in.

I think we could add something to the Polaris Ask the Expert thread title as a way to honor him.

I like the memorial idea, but in 6 months it's going to be a forgotten area. Sad as that may be, it's the nature of people and the internet. With the thread title, his name will still be around anytime people look for help.

Good idea having something where people will keep seeing it. I remember that Raptory was one of the good guys too. Good people die but A-holes live forever.

Wish I had the time and computer knowledge to go back through all his posts and collect the info he gave out.

Unbelievable how much information he shared over the years.

A great idea to do something in the Polaris brand section. That's where his participation was greatest. Actually, it is likely a high volume area for ATV Connection due to the popularity of the brand.

We should honor his participation on the ATV Connection is some way, and I hope we can.

Thanks Scootergptx

That's the easy part. Now figuring out what to say is the hard part.

His most recommended advice....First thing you want to do is Get A Service Manual.

How about this memorial in "Ask an Expert" at the top of the Polaris brand discussion forum:

In found memory of "old polaris tech": 11/1/1948 4/30/2018 RIP

Very simple, very inadequate considering his vast contribution to ATV Connection; but it does recognize he has passed on and now contributing to a vastly different internet world.
