I am goeing to purchase a new three wheeler and im trying to decide between two either a 85-86 250R or a 350X i like the four stroke because its more reliable but my friends are telling me that they arent that fast and i wouldent be able to keep up with anyone in the dunes. how fast are they? please help me decide

If you are buying it for dune riding then go with the two stoke! For some reason they seem to have the extra umph when in the sand.

But if you run many other places also then that thumper will provide you with a more flexible machine all around.

Good Luck

Definately the 250R for the dunes, although the 350X is no wimp. The 350X is better for tricky hill climbing and all around non dune riding.

I agree with the others. They are both great bikes, both very fast, and both lots of fun to ride, the 250R has better suspension and more power, but that doesn't mean the 350X is a POS, it is a great "feeling" bike, very comfortable to ride and very easy to ride hard, I still feel more "at home" on my 350X than I do on my 250R, but I have a more time on the 350X.

Ultimately, you can't go wrong with either, each has it's good and bad points, you will have to make your selection based on the kind of riding you typically do.

Good luck...

I agree, both are great machines but I've heard that the 350X has a weak spot in the frame and if you don't patch it up the frame'll crack in two along with the motor.

The 350X is a great all around machine. I used to own an '86. The weak spot on the frame is under the seat at the rear mounts. Mine had cracks when I purchased it. I rode it for almost 2 yrs without them getting eny larger.
