What is the top speed on a 350x. Someone is saying that honda is the worst three wheeler ever. And thought theat I would show him this. Tell me all the good tings about honda three-wheelers and some bad things. if any?

I have had mine up to 52 mph...that was half throttle in 5th gear......So my 200x will pull an easy 60mph.....with a little gear change 70mph would be easy. There are no bad things about a Honda 3-wheeler.....just look at the forum,,,,all these people in the forum.....most of these trikes are 20+ years old!!!!! Finding other brands are pretty slim right now! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] So Honda must have made a darn good machine!

yea hondas are best 3 wheeler made, and a 350x will out run most quads today, except the new 450's and the KFX"S woud be pretty close but the 350 was made 17 yrs ago, and my 200x will smoke just bout all the utilites around cept fro the really big bores, tell that person to come and this forum and bad mouth hondas, jus see what happen

There is nothing wrong with Honda's machine. they were the finest 3-wheelers made period! Sure the Tecate-3 was faster than the 250r (so i have heard anyway). But how many of them do you still see? I know there are not alot of 250r's but I have seen way more of them than i ever thought about seeing Tecate's. that was the hardest run ATC made and there still out there going strong. And this is coming from someone who rides a YAMAHA everyday.

Hondas were the best three wheelers made period. Sure the others were good but they were no comparison. How many 200cc or 350cc machines did the others have to compare against the 200 and 350X. NONE!! The reason you see so many more honda 250Rs, 200X and 300Xs is because they outsold the competition 2to1. No lie! But as some one who LOVES the old three wheelers I would love to have a Tecate and TriZ to restore to sit in my colection along with my 250R. Because with the demise of the factory three wheelers and the domination of the four wheelers in the marketplace it isn't worth griping about which manufacturer had the better three wheeler. If you can find any three wheeler in decent shape that was well cared for then that's a raretty and it's only going to get more rare so get em' while you can!

MY 350X ISNT SLOW..Id race ya on any trail..60mph is plenty fast for trail and MX racing.

A 350X will go plenty fast........ My stock big red will go 45mph. Its a 200. A 350X is a wild ride with alot of top end. Everything is a bike war here. Oh the good thing about a honda it can be fixed quite easily, as for the rest of the bike that are not so backyard mechanic friendly.

I clocked mine yesterday and it hit 67. But I have 20 inch tires and stock gearing. I did it with a radar gun so its accurate.

im finding it hard to belive it went 67..did you go down hill? I got a 350x with 20 tires, and im lucky to hit 55-60....stock gears...

a 350 will definetly do 65 -70. your bike may not be working the best. A buddy of mine has a 450 foreman and my trike will go side by side up to 80km/hr. which is roughly 45 -50 mph. going down a slight grade it peaked at 84km. its only a 200.

Size of the engine makes no difference in top speed, only how fast you get there. Either that 350X was SCREAMING and ready to chunk, or your gearing is a little different than stock. One or two teeth make a big difference. What are the teeth counts you are running. (I am not doughting you, I am just interested) The 20" tires are the weird part. 2" in height makes a HUGE difference in curcumference, and makes you cover ground faster with the same engine rpm.

well..my engine seems to be running fine, I'm pulling drags faster then the 400EX....and hills climbs like a mother...lol...but I DID have 22" on it...belive me...it feels like it drops 10-15mph when I went to the 20"...theres NO way its hittin 70 mph with 20" tires..unless ur goin down hill...or someone is pushing you w/ a car....

Well drummerboy, dont f*ckin beleive me, I dont have to lie to impress you. I thought it was fast for stock gearing also. I have 13/40 sprockets and 5psi in my tires. Dude, I had no idea it was that fast cause it has so much bottom end, It seems to rev a little higher but I think its from the port job.

Same thing that clocked me, Look believe what you want. I am not going to sit here and argue how fast my bike is, Im sorry it did that fast, For your sake I wish it would do 40, so yours can be better.

My friends 350X does upper 50's in real life and 71 online. It's all stock except for a Cobra pipe. It accelerates a little slower than my 86LT250 with a shaved head and FMF silencer (stock pipe) which is pretty good for an 80's 4 stroke. In the dirt he could stay right behind me until he hit top end.

thrash my 200x(85) will hit around 63 toped out when it was stock. i was clocked by a car and yes ive already subtract bout 3 MPH for the difference, so drummer guy i have no doupt that a 350x would hit 70

I had no choice!!!! I bought it that way.......Check this out.....I bought it from a guy at work for $300 it had the head fully port and polished, and let me say it had the best blend job around the valve guide I have ever seen! It had the 10.5 piston it it too! It ran like a champ from day one......I only found out it had this stuff because I took it apart to put a timing cain and guide in it.
But .....if it ever brakes you can bet on me having the 12 to 1 , the XR200R cam, stiff valve springs and the XR200R carb! The it will be pretty much maxed for a 200x!!!!!

Yeah trash, I did change them. Those are 21in Rawhide 1. They are off a 200x. But I put the holeshots back on cause one of those tires has a leak and its so thin walled the tire folds under the rim then I slide it. I also had to change the front cause It was about time for one, I had an old factory off my 300 I threw on it.

This was on a thread on 3wheeler.org posted by MR. ATC. This should end the mass confusion in earlier posts. Radar and GPS are the only way to accurately measure speed...

here is a list of the "aproximate" Average top speed of the majority of the most popular 3Wheeled ATV's. this list is based on severall criteria including magazine articals and test, manufactures "claimed" top speed, ( before lawsuits the manufactures were not afraid to post top speed in there spec sheets), and personall experiance using such equpiment as radar guns, atv mounted factory aproved and tested speedometers, side by side riding with comparable ( i.e. XL on-off road m/c's) by riding on flat paved sufaces on distance's of over two miles. (how fast your buddy, the cops, or whoever had to accelerate to to catch up to you on your trike is not the same).

NOTE, this is Based on brand new showroom stock 3 wheelers. NO modifications or 15yr plus machines. rebuilt or not. (there is more to a rebuild then just piston and rings).

I dont see how that could be. Just take 84' 250r and see how fast it would go. Then pull the engine out and install a 480cc two-stroke.
I bet the extra twenty h.p. will overcome the drag created by wind resistance, recipicating weight and tire drag.
It should have a higher top speed. Plus you could then gear it alot higher to go even faster with the extra power avalible.

TROLL, If you take the SAME trike with 2 engines that run the same RPM and TRANS gearing. You go the same darn top speed no madder if one has 100 more horse power. Horse power pulls you through it, gearing controls what you do with it.

O.K. , this is all in good fun and no offence to anyone. Actully your right in your original post in this thread and as far as gearing goes.
Except.
Let's say we go to boniville salt flats to do some testing.
For example, if we put a stock 70cc honda atc engine and put it in a 200x. Then gear it with 14/35 gearing with 22" tires.
Now go out and see what the top speed will be. It would be lucky to be able to get out of second gear. I dont think the top speed would be very high. I dont think it's very likely to have enough power to pull our trike over 40 mph.
Now take out that engine and put in a 480cc air cooled two-stroke with 51 h.p. I'd say it would go extreamly fast with the same gearing. I'm sure it will go over 80 m.p.h.

Well lets think about it, I got stock sprockets on it, and I went from 22" to 20" tires, which will drop it from 70 to about 60, and I didnt feel like pushin the bike to the limits on a curving road...lol...but it only feels like 55-60, but w/ the 22" tires, it feels alot more, but its alot eaiser to tip. and what year is ur 250x? I mean, being the trike is almost as old as me, 60 mph is pretty darn good.

55-60mph is slow for a stock 350 with stock gearing and 20in. tires... A bone stock 350 should run at least 70mph. If everything is up to par on the trike(bearings, brakes not dragging etc.) I did not GPS mine with the factory tires on it which grew even larger than 22in. the faster it went. But I did race a 400EX with 22in. tires(20in. stock) and a pipe, and I was a hair faster on top end, probably less than 1mph. Then I put 20in. Holeshots on it and had my GPS shortly after. So here are my speeds with a couple different gearing combos I have tried all with 20in. tires.
-stock gearing- 64-65mph
-14/40- 69-70mph
-14/37- 71-72mph
The only thing done to my bike--UNI air filter,removed flame arrestor from OEM muffler, 20in. Holeshots.

hey troll, your right withthe size of the motar but 70cc to 480cc is kind of overkill. The rest of the forum ist talking 200cc to 350 cc. 2 strokes naturaly turn more rpms, there for speed would be higher with the same gearing. Usually if you take a 350x motar and bore it out to 400 chances are (with same gearing) it would be slower top speed. Acceleration would increase but top speed would be lower. You have to remember the bigger bore piston is heavier than stock. So it takes more energy to push the piston.
