can 1984 honda 250r help

I have an '84 Honda 250r, It's been in my family for as long as I can remember. About 3 weeks ago I made a trip to St. Anthony's dunes in Idaho and couldn't make it up the biggest hill I've ever seen (choke cheery I think). Anyway I was wondering what mods other then Air Filter and Exaust I could do to try and turn someheads. It is all stock right now. I am in the process of trying to find a K&N Filter and a spark arrester/silicer. It has been bored out a little but my dad cann't remember to what. What else can I do? I'd really like to impress my dad alot, he was very reluctent to part with this bike, so any suggestions would be real appreciated. Thank you in advance.

1st mod to make on a 2 stroke is a darn good pipe(not the silincer)!!!!!!!!
after that get a good set of reeds
air filter
re-jet the carb
and maybe play with the sprockets to achive the low-end or top-end you want
after that you are off and running!!
good luck

I'm not what size the paddle tires are, I'll check. The gears are stock. I just ordered the DG exhaust system ( only aftermaket pipe for this bike ), K&N filter, some carbon fiber reeds, and a carborator rebuild kit. I think it is running way to rich and I have the carb all the way adusted to lean. I'm going to try all the new parts and see if it'll equal out, if not I'll probabally have to rejet it. Has anyone heard anything about the dial-a-jet? I ride at all altitudes and would rather not always have to change jets.
