Main Jet resizing

In an act of desperation, I was able to ream out a main jet for my ATC 110 from the stock size #82 to approximately a size #87.5.

I used a set of welding torch cleaning files to first use as a size guide to compare with the #87.5 jet I had on hand that didn't fit the carb. I was then able to use the next smaller file to enlarge the hole in the jet to the point where the correct file size could pass through.

I used a spare jet that I had in my toolbox, so I didn't have too much to loose. When I put the jet back in, the old 110 ran better than it ever has before. I don't think this method is as accurate as the correct size jet would be, but it got me by in a pinch when the correct size wasn't available form my local dealer.

I hope this is helpful.

Just a bit more info.
The geometry is as important as the size. Roundness, and surface finish effect flow too.
The #82 on the jet referrs to the hole diameter. Its .82mm diameter, which works out to ,0322 ". A number 87.5 is .875mm, which works out to .0344". So to change a 82 jet to a 87.7 , is just .002 ", which on diameter, is a very tiny amount.
I say, if it runs good...go for it.
