84 honda big red 200 question
 

Just got a 1984 Honda 200 three wheeler Big Red. 2 questions actually! Generally it backfired on deceleration than will dies and the plug is fouled. After I change it or clean it, it will run fine, sometimes for about 30 minuted sometimes a few rides. What do I need to do to fix this? Where do I start? 2nd. My battery wont stay charged for long. My pull cord broke the other day and right now I am counting on my electric start. I'll put a charger on my battery, get it charged and I only get a couple of starts out of it. Then its dead. Will not stay charged over night for sure. Usually if I ride it I won't cut it off because I'm not sure if it will start. Shouldn't it be staying charged and be able to us the electric start? I thought pull start was the backup. Is this normal if not whats up? What do I do? The battery is new, for ATV and fits in the spot but not 100% sure its the right one, what amps should it be?

the backfiring and fouling sounds like it is running too rich, if you have a manual, try changing the clip setting on the needle for the carb to lean it out. The battery issue is an electrical problem that it is not charging, and again you will need a manual to follow the test procedure.
