Default Atc 200m performance?

I once had a 1984 125m honda atc this was one of my first rides and I loved it I was at a friend's place
and I stumbled upon a 1985 200m in mint original condition for a very good price my question is performancewise what is the difference, my 125m had no front suspension and the 200m has front suspension bigger frame, bigger motor and 5 speed gearbox instead of four speed with high/low anyways how much more power speed does the 200m have? I may buy it just because it is a honda atc in such awesome condition with low miles/hours on it but im curious about performance. I know my 125m was not very good in the mud because of ground clearance any thoughts would be very helpful to me.

Well, I had a freind's 200m at my house for over 6 months while we were fixing it, and all the times I had it out, My dad would come along with his 200s which was faster in acceleration, but the M topped out higher. In light mud conditions it did very well, and especially well in water holes a big puddles. I would say the M is a lot faster than a 125m, and would do a lot better in any conditions also.

i have a 85 200M and it so easy to ride and does pretty good but i'm looking for a new exhaust system for more low end torque, stock seems a little weak but maybe it's just me.

I've not been on a M but I've been on pretty much every other ATC 200. The M has the same engine as the S plus electric start I believe. It may be geared a bit different than the S but should produce similar horsepower. I can tell you, that any ATC 200 would flat out kill your old 125. It should run around 50mph. You will like it better in most every situation. The only thing that might be close would be mud riding. The 125 was really light. I know the 110's were hard to beat in the mud. I assume the 125 would be the same.

The only problem is no suspension. The moment you get on a 200X you want to yank the engine and throw your s in the trash.

No you don't understand What I want I am a hunter and I need something reliable yet light and tough something I can repair easily and I don't need blindingly fast speedwise. I would never buy a sport machine as I have no need for one I like to ride a lot and I need something that will last not something that needs a rebuild every year if not sooner I don't take jumps over 2 feet and if I hit 50mph+ It is only to test top end speed once and after that where I ride I rarely go over 30mph too many obsticles to try anything more+ I found a 200m in MINT condition sure it would be nice to find some other better model but this is a MINT and I mean MINT condition 1985 honda 200m it has two rust spots less than the size of dimes on one side and the original tires are 10 percent worn that's right they have 90 percent left on them! did I mention they were original? No this bike is a dream come true but I never drove anything other than the 125m my father owned many four wheelers and I have driven a 300 trx4x4 and he owns a 700prairie currently but this 200m keeps calling to me for an everyday beater + like I said it is perfect for hunting Im stuck between a rock and a hard place I don't think I can pass this one up but im still undecided.

oh just a side note I like to go out on the ice in late march after it has lifted (floating) and play around I don't have the 200m yet but what is the tallest gears it could turn and highest speed it could reach in a long run without hitting uper rpm limits, Im using the prairie now (Quad) 4x4 and it tops out at just over60mph with the mudlites 25" the bike is stock. Could I reach 60mph with the 200m in a long run? the deal is some of my buddies are using 4x4 grizzlies and such and that's around the 55-68 mph range I don't expect to beat the sport quads but what can I do for top end even if it takes forever to get there? the lake is 20 miles long so once im there (top end speed) I can catch them hahahaha oh and the prairie 700 will do 69mph with the stock tires but im not expecting that much speed from the 200m. I just find trikes to be sooooo much more better at cornering than anything else I have tried. On the trails I have lost blasters with my 125m and that bike is not that powerful but If you learn how to (hang) off your trike you can take corners pretty wildly.

Personally i think it can do 60 mph plus. Stock, no. With some gearing changes, say maybe uhh 12 counter and a 41 rear it shoudl be able to. Mine does about 50mph and i run stock gearing, and it tops out in few seconds. So it should be able to pull 60 mph decently, wont be arm ripping but it would get there lol
