tell what mods you have on your quad, what class you raced in, what place you came in out of how many quads. This will give us all an idea on how good we can do with the mods on our bike.

I race in Missouri and Illinois harescrambles quit often, on a 96 300EX with a 350X motor, bored one over with 11:1 compression piston, 400EX a-arms and shocks up front, with a modified 350X swingarm and Works rear shock. I usually place top five in my class (C-class). This set-up is a great woods machine. Banshees can't touch me with this ride. hehehe! See ya in the woods.

I race in the NEATVA series up here in the northeast. Last year I raced my 99 Banshee with the following mods.
Paul Turner Mid Range pipes and Fat Boy silencers Maxxis Razr’s front and back DG nerf bars Fast Line front brake line K&N with pro design set up. (Snorkel removed, lit still on) I raced in Novice Open class. I came in 9th for the year. On average for the races there was about 30 quads at the gate. I am not sure how many people were actually in the class through out the year, due to problems etc, but we needed a qualifying moto for each race, and 20 can fit on the gate. I only missed one race out of 7 and still placed that high. And quite a few times, early in the season, racing for last was common. I guess persistency pays off. By the end of the year, I was placing in the top ten each time. But now the Banshee has been retired. For the next race, I should have my 250r done. |
The mods you make are no where near as important as the skills you possess. I went to a local fair race in michigan, and the winner was riding a stock 300ex, he beat everyone which included TRX310's and other heavily modified bikes. You should ride a stock machine as long as you can to build you strength and ability. That way when you finally modify the bike, you will blow them all away. Talk to any Pro rider and they will tell you the same thing.

I raced my first Harescramble about a month ago. My EX is bone stock except the front shocks, which are setup for MX and the +2 control arms I don't (and now that I am planning on running more of these races, probably won't) have, my aluminum bars, and RAZR rears. I was riding against everything from stock EXs to highly modded EXs in my class of 21 riders (20 400EX's and 1 Scrambler 500).
Anyway lost over 1.5 minutes on my last lap due to starter failure (bad battery connection) while trying to get around a stuck rider, but still took 2nd in my class, took 4th in the class above me, and 22nd overall out of a total of over 100 riders. Pro rider Bryan Baker (YZ426 quad in June Dirtwheels) attended this race and took first overall. My last race I blew out a front tire on the first lap, but not before passing about 4 people and in the process of reeling in two more.... Oh well, there's always next time... I learned a lot about how to run these races after my first one. I think I will be able to do well in this series, if I can keep air in my tires and a couple of other small changes. |
I race mx once and I have a race this weekend maybe. the mods I had on my 250r then where
wiseco .20 piston, boyeson, reeds, porting work, fmf gold series fatty pipe, power core 2 silincer,dg alloy series nerfs, motion pro twist throttle, nac's casesaver, braking brake pads,I have holeshot mx's on mitchell.190 wheels but since had a flat I used my 20/11/9 6 ply razr's on ITP .190 wheels and 21/7/10 holeshots on wideoffset ITP .190 wheels. all I have different now is white bro's white power shocks with res's allt he way around,PEP easy pull clutch perch and lever, motion pro clutch cable, durablue eliminitor axle durablue posi loc axle nut=(already installed)LSR bearing carrier=(not even installed yet waiting for new swing arm)and the new swing arm and +2 a-arms are on the way. I got the crap beat out of me with with my stock suspension trying to clear 40 foot doubles I cleared a couple with real hard landings but my freing with a tricked out 250r running works shocks and the a-arms and swingarm I am getting was landing soft as butter and now I got better shocks then him so that should help alot. anyway I ended up getting a dnf from when I landed from a jump hit my head came down hit the bars and they folded down on top off my gas tank and I couldn't turn. so I pulled in to the pits. and then my mom acedently kick my valve stem and broke it inbetween moto's so i called it a day. |
I race the Minnesota District 23 HareScramble series.
Round 1 was my first AMA race ever. I had a couple of crashes with other riders and some minor damage done to the machine. I finished 20th, out of 35 riders. I was disappointed in the results because I felt I made too many mistakes on the course. I missed Round 2 of the series because I was in California on a buiness trip. Round 3 is this Sunday(June 25th). If I can get a top 10 finish, I will be very happy. There are now over 60 riders in the QuadSport class. All sport machines run together(300EX, 400EX, 250r, Banshee, DS, etc) I ride a 00' Honda 300EX with: TC Racing motor Holeshot XC tires on Douglas Red Label Wheels Renthal bars, Renthal sprockets, Scott grips, parking brake block-off, WhiteBrothers power-filter, NGK spark-plugs, airbox and plastic mods. My suspension, a-arms, swingarm, and axel are all stock till I can get some more cash. If you think you are a great rider. Race a local HareScrambler race, and it will bring you down to reality real quick....HS and CC racing is the toughest thing out there. It is also some of the most fun I have ever had in my life!!!!
