My five year wants to race quads....

My six year old started racing this year on his quad. He rides a 50c and in the circuit he raced in he can't race anything bigger until he's twelve they say by law. He is required to have a helmet, long pants (preferably race pants), a long sleeve shirt or jersey, goggles and gloves. Any other equipment is optional but suggested such as knee pads, boots, etc. We live in Michigan and we pay approxmately $25 a race and 1st, 2nd & 3rd place generally wins a trophy.

Thanks mini. I wonder if that applies to the state of Ohio. I've been reading the AMA stuff and I think he needs to be six before he can start racing? What kind of money should I expect to pay for a race ready atv? Know of anyone selling?

Here in Michigan the age range is 4-11 on 50c 12-15 on 51c-125c and up. They're all race ready because in this age group it's stock ATV's and they all run about the same speed. We bought my son's a year and a half ago and spent $1400, I hear we got it cheap I know some go for almost $2500, it just depends on where you go and that is brand new. I'll keep my ears open for anyone selling.

Luvit, I dont know if you got him one or not but please dont buy a lt80. they are so outdated and limited on what can be done to them. There are a lot more better choices for bikes out there. My 7 yr old races a 90 and does great with it.
