I have a problem, I found a frame in Minnesota, but I need it shipped to New Jersey. American Freight Company wants $200.00!!!! I contacted UPS and they told me it is too large for them to ship...which way do I turn? Please help!!!
Thanks,
Paul

In my experience, "Motor Freight" is the cheapest way.

The trick is obtaining the best classification--for example, "Iron Tubing," may carry a dramatically lower rate per pound than "Motorcycle Frame;" because "Motorcycle Frame" may conjure up images of a $ 5000 paint job custom Harley, a shipment requiring more care than "Iron Tubing" or the used frame you've found.

Talk to a friendly dispatcher/counter clerk at one of the national shippers (like Consolidated Freightways); a "good guy" there can help you.

I dont what what kind of frame your getting, but I have shipped a full stock TRX250r frame (bare frame) through UPS. I had to repackage it about 5 times before it was under their measurment restrictions. Basically, I didnt box the frame, I rather cut peices of heavy card board to exactly fit the top, bottom and both sides. Taped it all up with packing tape, and they took it. Cost was $38.00

If its still to big, how about cutting off the rear sub-frame for shipping, then welding it back on? Just an idea.

You should be able to receive one UPS.HY-TECH ATV Salvage sent me one from California to Indiana about four years ago for $20.00.

Thanks for all the input. The problem I have is that it is an LT500 frame which measures out to be 67" long!!! UPS said that it is too big.
Thanks again
Paul
