Northcentral New Mexico-a little snow

Out with 2 others in a little snow before the forest service shuts the gates till next Spring.

It looks like a great time to ride, but snow in New Mexico when there's none here in Michigan seems odd to me. You must be at a higher elevation than me here at about 750 feet.

Yep, I live at 5644 ft elevation but very seldom it snows here at my home in the high desert but if it does it is never more than 6" and it melts off the same day.
Where the Vid's were takin are at the Nearby Mountains which are 40 miles north of my home, the riding there starts at 6700ft elevation and tops out at 10,100 ft at the Fire Tower Lookout. This ride we had to turn around at appox 8800ft because the snow got to deep and the snow drifts were really getting deep. Bummer as we had to backtrack out as the 3 other climbs out of Paliza Canyon were at the higher elevations and the deeper snow wouldn't allow us access. A fun day though, sunny skies and some snow to play in. Traction at times wasn't very good as there was ice under the snow, so the tires danced around trying to find grip, lol. Another snow storm and the Forest Service will lock the entry gates till next Spring, so we decided to get out now while the gates were still open for the Christmas Trees folks who were out cutting xmas trees for themselves. (Xmass tree permit required)

Looks like a great day out riding. Waiting for enough snow and ice to drive from my house, across the lake, and up into Pawtuckaway State Park where ATV's are allowed in the winter.

The highest elevation I rode was probably Bull Gap Hill by Mio, MI. According to the forest service the sand hill is 0.2 mile and at a 35 - 40% grade.
