Hitch for Towing

I made my son a trailer hitch for towing his new boat but it ended up coming apart and the boat passed me on the freeway when testing it, because it had broken lose.
I did a little research and this is what i found Reese 30054 30K Low Profile Fifth Wheel Hitch $1039 sounds good and looks safer , but I am not sure if I can use this 5th Wheel Hitch for towing my son's boat? Has anyone tried this?

wow, sorry to hear about your luck. must be a big boat if you're using a 5th wheel. i thought you built a receiver hitch.
i use a 15,000 lb 5th wheel hitch and i tandem tow. no problems.
if it says Reese, i wouldn't sweat the details. they're very reliable! BUT, i'd have the rail system professionally installed-it has to be balanced across the truck's rear axle so as to not throw the weight off of the steering axle.. that is a worthy investment. i didn't mind paying the extra to have it installed. well worth the money. you may go to a travel trailer dealer and see what kind of deal he'll cut you on a 5th wheel hitch and installation. you'd be surprised, i got my hitch cheaper with a local dealer than anything i found online.
